I was wondering if anyone actually used a liveCD/DVD for anything other than testing to see if the OS will work on their system?

Does anyone think they have a use beyond the above reason?

I've used the Ubuntu LiveCD to rescue critical files off two machines after Windows hosed itself. I also used it to prove that I could get the porn files off a mates machine when his windows install was passworded.

I have used them for recovery, to resize partitions, and to test hardware. They are actually pretty useful.
