Anyone tried this? What works and what doesn't work? Anything to watch out for?

I am close to buying a G50vt-a1, and would want to run Ubuntu, with Vista in VMWare.

Well not the Vt but I have debian on my G50V-A2 with RAID 0.

I dual boot windows XP and debian sid (unstable).

If you go raid 0 just make sure to get a recent build of the installer and add dmraid=true to the arguments at the boot screen before install.

I am linking below a good reference, but they are totally wrong about enhanced mode and RAID. You can use enhanced mode with dmraid=true and use software raid with the intel ICH controller with no problems. This is my setup.

You can Wine most windows programs in linux. Even works for games (somewhat). I can get 40-50fps in northrend (WoW) playing it through wine on Ubuntu. This is on my desktop, but most laptops now days have much better specs.

I'm picking up a g50vt-a2 and I plan on it being a dedicated linux box for sure.
