Any number of ways, depending on what OS you use. Graphical partitioning tools for Linux include gparted and palimpsest at the top of my list.

Or you can use a utility like UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads to skip the manual steps and do it all automatically.

When I have problems getting rid of hard to remove MBR's, partition information, hidden sectors, RAID information, etc. I use a live PartedMagic CD. Boot it up and there is a partition editor icon on the opening screen (It is a link to Gparted). Use it to clean the usb drive (Of course make sure what drive you are performing it on first). It has worked on every stubborn disk I have thrown at it. The other advantage is that it is not running from the drive you are performing actions on, rather it is run from ram. It also has a bunch of other useful programs.

If your main computer is running Linux, then search the Internet for the "dd" command. It can also wipe the usb drive clean.

You can use "Startup Disk Creator" in LInux to install Ubuntu flavors of LInux, or you can use "Universal USB Installer" in Windows. These programs will reformat your USB drive, and install a new Linux version for you.

Most things in Linux are this easy nowadays.
