hi all, I just installed Saline OS 1.5. It's debian based running kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64 with xfce4. I'm unable to change lcd brightness using my Function keys. The keys are responding because i do get the graphical popup showing the brightness level, but the level doesn't change. I've googled everything i could find on the issue and haven't found anything. I'm lost.

    Any ideas?

Try setting acpi_backlight=vendor on the grub command line.

That one is more dependent on the platform drivers for your brand of laptop.

Sometimes your BIOS may assign different steps depending on the OS string.

So you can try setting acpi_osi="Windows 2009" or "Linux" or even "!Windows 2009" (not windows 7) for example, on the grub command line, to see if that is the case.

Otherwise, bug the maintainer of your laptop's platform driver. ;)
