    Installing ubuntu errors

    well i'm tryin to install ubuntu 6.10
    but i keep getting softlock on cpu errors after i hit install

    I checked the cd for errors and its clear and i am able to use the live version from the cd.
    I am using a compal HEL80
    duo core
    gferoce 7600
    gig of ram
    80 gig hd
    any ideas why i get this error?

    Turn your wireless card off during the boot up phase.

    it was off though.
    i havnt tried turning it on for it should i try that?

    What version are you using? I've had 6.06, 6.10, and 7.04 on my HEL80 without any trouble at all, and the wireless shouldn't make a difference either.. mine is always on even during installs.

    Which image are you using? the x64? i386? I've not tried the X64 in a while because there were many known issues with it (graphical/video in nature included).

    well i read some things on the ubuntu forums
    and i duno apparently having the wireless switch set to on will make it work and it did
    so its working pefectly now :)

    Yeah, see, I get that same error sometimes if the wireless is on. Hopefully this'll get fixed in Feisty.
