Thanks a lot Timber wolf for the post...

Yes actually I was refering for recommended win98 software to install Ubuntu .ISO.

I have downloaded PowerISO but it is limited for only files up to 300MB. Ubuntu is approx. 600MB.

Any other adequate program for Win 98?

    Thanks

Do you know that you have to burn the .iso image first, and then boot you computer with that CD?

No you have reboot, make your PC boot from CD-ROM first (press DEL to enter setup).

you shouldn't see the .iso file in the CD, the .iso is an image of a CD, after burning the right way, you should see files and folders in the CD.

Now, you have to enter the BIOS and change the first boot device so that your PC boots from the CD, to access the BIOS, hold down the DEL (or F2) key as soon as your computer begins to start up.

There are two ways of burning an iso image file onto CD or DVD.

One is to burn the file as an iso image therefore whole content of the CD/DVD is the image (meaning you can see files and folders on the CD/DVD just as they are in the original iso image file, macker has emphasized this a few times), which is almost always the right way.

The other is to burn the file as a file therefore whole content of the CD/DVD is a file (meaning you effectively copy the file onto the CD/DVD), which is almost the wrong way. If you explore the CD/DVD and see one and only one file ubuntu-6.10-desktop-i386.iso, then you have not burned the image in good way!

If you burn it correctly, you should see files and folders like autorun.inf, bin, casper, disctree, .disk, dists, install, isolinux, md5sum.txt, pics, pool, preseed, programs, README.diskdefines, start.bmp, start.exe, start.ini, ubuntu, ubuntu.ico etc.

Boot from CD-ROM with this CD and hopefully you get Ubuntu on your machine! :)
