Okay, this is 100% on the level. My aunt passed away and left a Laptop (IBM Thinkpad T42P). The family wanted to throw away. It has Ubantu on it but I have no knowledge of OS and was wondering how to re-install windows without a Password or any CD's. I hate to dump it, someone at Senior Centre could always use this Laptop. Any help appreaciated...

What version of Windows you want to install really depends on how much memory the T42 has. If its 512MB, then you probably want to install XP. However you do need the OS installation media (CD), plus a serial (the license to use to OS). If this is a problem, then I really recommend that you keep Ubuntu on there. It is a very easy to learn OS, and it will save you trouble in the long run.

Hi Bog, thanks for reaching out! I did want XP & I was hoping it had a partition with XP on it to restore the laptop to new. I'm Polish so it will be harder to learn then for most ;-)) LOL

Before Ubuntu boots, you should see a splash screen for the GRUB bootloader. If there is any other OS installed on another partition, it will be listed by the GRUB bootloader. Do you have a legitimate license for XP? Are you a student at a university/college?
