    This thread I posted in the Ubuntu forums pretty much sums it up: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1310626.

    I'd appreciate any ideas... right now I'm trying to somehow repair it from the LiveCD, but it's kind of tempting just to reinstall from a fresh Karmic 9.10 disk. :p

    TIA

    Add the kernel param noresume to the Grub Ubuntu boot line.

    @timberwolf

    I'll try that next time. :rolleyes:

    @Bog

    128MB nVidia GeForce 8400M GS with NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (180).

    But I reinstalled Jaunty anyways, because at least everything works, including the SD card reader which was the reason I was trying to hibernate... even if the audio support isn't as good as Karmic. :p

    Aw, well. I was thinking that the issue might have something to do with the new kernel mode setting implemented into Karmic Koala. I guess we'll never know!

    That's unusual. KMS is only for Intel drivers, not nvidia or ATI. I have had no issues hibernating on my laptop with ATI graphics. My desktop with nvidia graphics screws up everytime on hibernate.

    That's good to know. On the other hand, it is also disappointing to learn that Ubuntu still has long-term bugs still present in the distribution releases.

    LOL, there's going to be a next time? It's an on-the-fly Grub edit so it should be a little quicker than reinstalling the OS.
