Does anyone else use this laptop with Linux. Is there anyway to see if everything will work with Linux other than doing a dual install? I've read on here that you can boot Linux off of a cd to see if you like the look/features of it, will this also bring to light any compatibility issues that may exist?
    Thanks

Looking at your product specifications at HP's website, it seems like all of your hardware is supported. I had a DV6255 (really similar to your model) and I've never had a problem running Linux on it.

The Linux live CD's will generally run exactly like how it will run after being installed. There will be some hardware that will work better after being installed though, like the nVidia graphics card. Installing the proprietary nVidia drivers requires the computer to be restarted and therefore won't work in the live CD.

    I hope I answered your questions :)
