I'm sure there is an easy way to fix this, but I don't know it. W

When I select to edit a picture with GIMP, 3 windows open. The picture itself, and 2 other boxes. Now only 2 are opening. I've looked, but I'm lost. How can I get that 3rd box back?

I feel like an idiot. *slaps head*

The two other windows should be 'layers' and 'Toolbox'. Go to 'Windows' drop down box menu(it should be in between 'filters' and 'box' on the main window or when you open a picture) and click whichever one you need from the dialogs menu.

Edit: shortcut keys for Toolbox should be CTRL +B; layers should be CTRL +L. The shortcuts might only work in windows

No, you're right - Ctrl+B for Toolbox and Ctrl+L for the Layers window. I think if you close GIMP with the Layers window up it'll reopen that way. Not sure. Anyway, GIMP usually just opens the tips window and the Toolbox for me but it's easy to bring the Layers window up too.

It took me a while to get used to the GIMP way of doing things but I like it now better than Adobe.

Thank you so much! I was getting a little desperate. I needed the window that lets you undo stuff. I'm still learning, so I use that one quite a lot. LOL ;)
