while looking nice and clean, it does somewhat resemble a project by someone who is a photoshop gradient crazy nut

LOL Enough to give Einstein a migraine.....actually, I just torrent the live CD's to check them out, disks are cheap. My installation remains Mint KDE CE where I'm got my virtual machine tweaked out nicely for non linux duties. Way too much time on my hands :D

Einstein probably always had a constant migraine.

Btw ive read that you are an avid gnome user, so how is the change to kde treating you?

What is it thats so good about KDE, i always found it to be clunky and messy

Well, the mint KDE CE version is the first one I've used that, for some reason, I didn't get that Klunky, Bloated feeling and feel like Konqui and the Gears were chasing me all the desktop ;) Nothing has gone buggy on me really either. PCLOS Gnome was the distro way back that I wanted to keep but was incompatible with my wireless card, so I had to scrap it and keep going back to the 'buntus. I'm already burning PCLOS gnome 2008 to check it out.....hehe

Blackbird: Samo samo crappola....not supported out of the box....good looking distro though, for sure....I might try with my laptop cabled to the router and see what it does because it says a firmware file is needed for my wireless device. Well, why the hell not put in the package in the first place! This is a common card.

the problem with PCLOS gnome remaster was that KDE would resume itself after an update!! :p Seriously lame.

You'll have to tell me what you think of this one.

Thanks for the test, shame it is not supported.

Indeed this is a common card and all the other major distros which are easy to use and opt for out of the box support such as ubuntu, mint, sabayon, fedora, they all detect this card. I don't understand why its not supported in PCLinuxOS as its considered by some more friendly than ubuntu, really wanted to try this distro :(

I read in the forums that for that card you need to:
Open synaptic and do a find for 4965. Install the firmware and then see how that works for you.

To verify the file is in place once synaptic installs it do
    ls /lib/firmware/iwl*

If it returns a file then you should be good, reboot and see what happens.

@rm2, problem I have is that I would be afraid, say with PCLOS, that during a major update I would get kicked off the net wirelessly because they don't include that driver with the whole package. That's a real deal breaker for me, unless you know something I don't.

Well, what I do know is that Tex and his gang are top notch maintainers. I have been using PCLinuxOS for about two years, applying all the updates, and I have never had anything break. So, I wouldn't worry about it.
