One thing that always annoyed me in Linux with Firefox was the behavior of the backspace key (scrolling up the page instead of going back one page)

Yesterday I decided to do some research on Google and I found the following solution that may interest you:

type in the address bar: about:config
    In the filter type: browser.backspace_action
double-click on it and replace the value '1' with '0'

If I press space it takes me to the bottom of the page. It has the same effect the Page Down key has.

Another great tip, John B. This one bothered me too... but now backspace works like I want it to!

THanks! I've been totally wondering about this. I didn't know how so i just downloaded the keyconfig plugin and used alt+Left as my backspace.

This is a great tip. I know I personally was annoyed by this when I first started using Linux. Here's another great source for tips on how to further configure firefox, if you're interested: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/tips
