    Hmm, that's odd. screeney?
EDIT: If we can't help you you can make a shared partition.
Also, what are the specs of your laptop?

I see, same with me. I don't think you can, try a shared partition.

No, start from the Ubuntu Live CD again & go to gParted & shrink one or both of the partitions to free up 10GBs of space(or more). Format it to ext3, ext2, NTFS, or Fat32.

What? You've got two distros successfully installed. You're at least as good as I. I've hosed everything on my hdd several times trying to install a third distro. LOL

What Thomas is suggesting, is that you use GParted and shrink your current partition sizes, not that you delete anything - to make room for a shared partition.

Haven't a clue if you can share a partition, but shrinking and formatting with GParted is very easy. Good luck.

    haha hmm
    so what your saying is
ill ahve the os's on 2 diff partitions
but i should put my files on partition shared by BOTH os's so i can access them from both
hmm sounds like a good idea im not sure if im gonna keep ubuntu though
    i like the gnome interface
but man mandriva is REALLY good at keeping a wireless connection
when using windows i had frequent dc's no matter what and with mandriva i havent dced once but now with ubuntu im getting the dc's again
but i dunno ill figure it out and try to install the gnome desktop on mandriva

and my comp is an emachines t3256
the drivers installed on mandriva seem to work better than the actual wireless drivers they are intersil corporation prism 2.5 wirelan chipset

    That's the CPU ;)
    OK, in a terminal type
    Code:
    sudo gedit /etc/usplash.conf
Make the first number & second number match your screen resolution(EX. Mine is 1280x800 so my first number is 1280)
Then we have to make that stick so type
    Code:
    sudo update-usplash-theme usplash-theme-ubuntu
Your all set, note this has only been tested under ubuntu.

You may not be able to run compiz :(
To be honest, I suggest a new computer if you want to run anything modern.
& No, do that in Mandriva.
