I'm getting a strange effect when I enable desktop effects (either through gnome or with beryl). The windows stay open and usable, but the title bar at the top disappears. You can guess why that is a problem. Additionally, Emerald theme manager doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Sure pretty effects aren't necessary, but I'd like to be able to turn them on anyway.

It's a well known problem with the nVidia drivers and AIGLX I believe. You can find plenty of help and fixes by searching Google or the Ubuntu forums ( www.ubuntuforums.org).

ok thanks, I'll check that out. My buddy had no idea why it was doing that, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks.

For emerald not seeming to do anything, you must reload the window decorator for it to apply any changes. Also, make sure the window manager is set to Beryl and the window decorator to emerald, then reload both.

Also, if a Window is maximised when Beryl loads up, the maximised window may have its top bar placed under the top panel. right click the program tab and select move to get it back.

    A bit off topic but:

The only way I been able to turn Beryl completely off is by VIA Enable Desktop effects ...checking/Unchecking the boxes ....Then clicking again.

Otherwise I would probably need to reset Beryl every time I want to turn it off.

Just thought this would help somebody.
