Hello ya'll. Its been a while since I've been on these forums, but I should be a lot more active that I've settled down at school again.

Anyway, I am having a problem with compiz-fusion in my ubuntu 8.04 system. For some reason, it will not allow me to configure it with 4 virtual desktops. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but 2-3 desktops is not enough for me and 5 or more slows down my computer significantly. It used to allow 4 desktops, but since I updated some scrips and xconfigs to allow for dual monitor usage (multiple X-Screens) it only allows me to use 4-desktops on my secondary monitor. For some reason when I select 4 virtual desktops in Compiz Config, it switches automatically to 2. It doesn't do this for 1-3 or 5+, only 4. I have no idea why and it's driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated. :D

    Thanks!

Does the problem dissapear when you get rid of the dual screen configuration?

No, thats the first thing I tried :( But, it did SEEM (not 100% sure when it started) to appear after I setup the dual screens with the newest compiz (used git to get the latest updates).

    Any other ideas?

try setting visual effects to none, then add the other 2 workspaces so you have 4 total, then enable visual effects.

I did what you reccomended, but now I cant start compiz anymore... The windows show up the emerald window manager doesnt load and neither do any of the compiz effects (at least when on full - when its on minimal, it works).

Any ideas now? I tried putting it back to 3 workspaces and it didnt help...
