I have an Acer V5-122p netbook/notebook whatever you want to call it. It's an 11.6" touchscreen Win 8 machine with an AMD A6-1450 with 6GB DDR3 (support for only 1066MHz and single channel ). I wouldn't mind using it with Linux instead, but would like to take advantage of the touchscreen. Is there any good but lightweight Linux distro for something like this?

I use Linux Mint 15 MATE on my Panasonic toughbook CF-19 and touch works very nicely.
You might start with Linux Mint 13 MATE LTS as it is supported until 2017.

You can't go wrong with Arch Linux. Lightweight, highly customizable, easy package management, and the best community wiki out there. You have documentation for days.

Lots of information there to get you started. Its not as plug and play as other distros however you have a lot of control and can fine tune it how you want.

I havent had the chance to play with touchscreen under linux yet. Please let me know how it goes for you!
