Well... Im gonna install Ubuntu later, but first I want to back up my system.. I am looking for a easy way to get my os etc back if the partioning messes up..

Or... do you think there is such a little chance of it messing up that it is pointless to back up or,,,? :/

i used acronis true image 11 home to image my old vista drive. it was just the base install, codecs, mp3/dvd programs, drivers and world of warcraft. it took a little extra time with warcraft but i was able to get the .iso, well, .tib file rather, on a dual layer dvd. i tested it out on another drive that was the same size and the restore went flawlessly. highly recommended and very easy to use. for linux, i'd recommend mondo. however, if you use ubuntu, do not install mondo from the repo. use the latest version from mondorescue.org.
