I can't seem to find any download links for a µTorrent installer that works in Ubuntu 8. Does anyone where I can get one?

You need to install Wine in order to run µTorrent in Linux.
    It works perfect for me.

uTorrent is Windows only, however, you may like Transmission or Deluge, both are pretty solid torrent programs.
I had font problems(unreadable) when I used uTorrent under Wine.

How would I not do that? You have to install Wine for any windows program to install or work.

uTorrent doesn't always work under WINE. The interface is sometimes rendered entirely black, and the shortcut provided on the desktop rarely works. Granted, these aren't deal-breakers, but why deal with it when you can use other torrent clients that are similar, like Deluge?

I recommend Deluge over kTorrent and Transmission, it's much more like uTorrent but native for Linux.

However, Transmission is solid, it's clean, and works, so, your choice.

You'll find that Deluge is better than transmission for a heavy torrenter because of its feature set and speed. It's also better to have for normal torrenters as it makes things go by faster and easier.

screen + bittorrent-curses or any cli bittorrent would be my choice. i do most of my torrenting remotely and being able to ssh from a pc or my phone is pretty convenient.

Does any of the native torrents for Linux have encryption? Thats one feature of uTorrent is pretty much a must have.

Damn ISPs and their trigger happy bandwidth throttling

launch the utorrent .exe and wine will install it lickity split no hassles....but, it's not the same, doesn't look all that great....Ktorrent is great, just like it (or better), if you use KDE....Transmission is GTK, but I like Ktorrent better IMHO.

Seriously, I can't imagine why you need to go through all the WINE + uTorrent hassle when you got tons of native Linux apps like Deluge :)

Personally, I use Deluge heavily and it works fine. Transmission is also good, but has less features/has a more simplistic interface. Haven't tried Ktorrent, my desktop is GTK-based.
