i was looking at the manual for the s1
and it says there is two DIMM sockets and a total of 2048MB of ram can be installed.

now i know the one dimm is hidden underneath the keyboard. but the specs fully support that there is two dimms.

also i read the warranty card, and it says nothing about it.
only not to remove labels etc of the compoments or parts.

    so what gives?

So they advertise this notebook as having two DIMMS therefore if we can't upgrade ourselfs then they are going against our limitation.

0 - Contact LG, I don't think there will be any seals that would be broken if you upgrade the RAM.
1 - If you ask them to upgrade it for you I don't think they will charge for it (this at least was the case for ASUS)

Most laptops in the market support 4GB ram hardware-wise but they need a BIOS that supports it.The information that the OP has might be before the time that the BIOS supporting up to 4GB was released.

They don't mind RAM upgrades nor HD upgrades, or they didn't 2 years ago when I inquired - I was looking to buy the LG LW60 back then.

Yep, you don't void your warranty just for the RAM.
I'm thinking in upgrading mine to 4gb :D
    I saw 2 X 2 Gb for 300 dls.
