"LG have announced their latest notebook, the LG XNote P510, complete with a 15.4-inch LED backlit 1,440 x 900 LCD, NVIDIA GeForce GT130M graphics and a choice of three Intel Core 2 Duo processors. In an attempt to make using their new flagship more stimulating, there’s also haptic feedback from certain controls - such as the power button - and LED illumination of the trackpad. "

    Very interesting.

Seems to follow LG's trend of taking the optical drives out of laptops to reduce weight - this seems to be the lightest 15-incher around (5lbs).

They also don't pull any punches on the gpu either - that gt130m's top of the new mainstream line (Gt100m series).

If you're not needing every inch of screen real estate, though, I still think the LG P310 is better. More than half a kilogram lighter, a gpu that is only marginally inferior to the GT130m (the 9600m gt being its predecessor; I remember initial benchmarks showed a 17% difference), and an external optical drive as well.

    Very nice. :D

LG could change the graphic card in P310 for GT130M. That would be awesome.

the design is SOO Awesome, it looks simple but in the areas where it matters this thing really shines....

I love that Glow up touchpad and the Lid very subtle.

Man if they an LG gaming laptop now that thing would look better then anything....

The 9600M GT its good enough, even the 17% teoric better performance from the GT130M...

Also remember that P310 its more slim and less weight... more usefull that the gpu power...

Geforce 9600GT is being produced in 65nm technology process, while the new geforce 130GT is in 55nm technology. So it's not only smaller, but it also produces much less heat during work. If LG managed to put Geforce 9600GT into such a small notebook like P310, they should have no problems in putting Geforce 130GT in it. :D

darn, korea always getting the good stuff first
is LG the only one that takes out optical drives for the slimmer/lighter notebooks? i love it ~ i recently realized i barely use my drive, only for installing games that i didn't *cough* download.

that unboxing review is kinda weird though, it doesn't come with an external drive? or did i miss it

Is it just me or does the the overall case of the laptop look cheap (plasticy). I love the internal performance of it by the specs so far.

LG IS one of the only companies that takes the optical drive out. I know there are others too but i cant think about it......Well all netbooks are like that but then again they're netbooks so there still not Notebooks.

Trust me, it is NOT plasticy. Its actually a really good build/feel.

    The specs are awesome though

is there any data somewhere as to how long LG's laptops are delayed between korea/north america release? maybe they're waiting for the cpu price drop before releasing in the usa/canada?

Yeah but those notebooks are both small and Niche notebooks these LG's here arent.

Now that netbooks are getting optical drives maybe LG will be the only one with the mass producing no optical drive notebooks :p

i don't speak the language, but i think (at 1:50ish) the date is mentioned (i think he says something like late april early may). some native speaker could confirm/deny?

well, fwiw, the guy said sometime between april and may, but no specific date given. At the end, he mentions the laptop will cost 1,999.

hi, I just read on the German notebookjournal.de page, that they are going to get an test-sample in June. They also assume it´s going to be released around that month in Germany, too.

Can't help thinking the specs are a bit weird; I mean such a high-end processor and then they choose to couple it with a mediocre graphics card. That ultimately makes it a "multimedia" notebook, rather than one for gaming. although it has all the specs for gaming except for the graphics card. That makes it quite difficult to justify such a price, I think. Also the resolution is a bit disappointing. Otherwise the specs of this machine are really powerful and high-end, but no doubt you pay a lot for the design and brand.

C'mon the GT130M is not such a bad card :) It is the maximum config they can fit into such a small chasis. After all, the main advantage of this baby is that it is so light... Bigger GFX card = bigger cooling = more weight...

LG typically doesn't cater to gamers as the GPU is sufficient for majority of users. The only more powerful card you will find in a similar sized machine is the HD 4650.
