That's bad news, LG have great notebooks. In Kuwait and UAE, I tried contacting LG electronics to get a notebook and I was told that they don't bring laptops. All they has was TVs, ACs, and a bunch of other household electronics. Turned out they were two different agents, I found them at Computer City and he was an official reseller.

Look in the right place and you might actually find one, try www.lge.com. I would do this for you, but I'm at work and our firewall wont get me past the LGE intro screen.

Another option is to order one online, try Canada or Europe.

There's an importer who posted here a few weeks ago with intentions of offering several models in the US. They're grey market, but you might not care about that. Pick through the older LG threads to find them.

LG used to have a contract with another company to not sell in the US(LG made laptops for them, and they told LG not to sell in the US). It's been almost a year since that contract expired, I guess LG did not think the US market was worth opening up to.

    :)
I think there is still some kind of contract there, because I was trying to simplify our steps to bring LG notebooks to US market, I talked about this with LG Canada and LG distributor in Canada, I wanted our US office to order from Canada and ship out from our US office, but they both said no. I need to order from our company in Canada, where I want to sell to, they won't care and cannot control beause I don't have contract with anyone, but one thing is firm: they can only sell to Canadian resellers, not US resellers, not end users.

US customers order LG notebooks from US office, our US office orders from our Canadian office, our Canadian office orders from LG distributor...

Wonder if/when Milestone will be getting in the LG TX models?

That's one high tech Star Trek tribble Coriolis! Or is it some kind of Hamster? I used to own some of those but forgot the name of it.

MilestonePC is correct that getting the computer from Canada to the US is a hassle. What they didn't mention though, was that although their website says shipping via UPS, that may only be for computers originating from their US office. For LG and any other brand which they may have to send from their Canada office, they use CanadaPost which does not track the shipment once it is turned over to the US Postal Service.

The following is my experience so far: I ordered my LG S1-M001A9 on July 10 (knowing full well I would have to wait some time for the notebook to arrive in Canada). The notebook finally arrived and was shipped out of MilestonePC's Canada office via CanadaPost on July 27th. On July 31st, CanadaPost turned the package over to the USPS. After getting no further tracking update, I called MilestonePC yesterday and was told that CanadaPost does not provide any additional tracking info after the merchandise leaves Canada and that they use CanadaPost due to lower cost of shipping and ease of getting the merchandise through customs into the US versus using UPS. I called CanadaPost this morning and was advised of their procedures (which matched what the customer rep at MilestonePC told me) and advised that once the package is turned over to the USPS, it should take 10 to 12 working days to arrive. Today is the 10th working day and so far, no notebook.

I don't mind the wait time, but I do have a couple of problems with MilestonePC's shipping this merchandise by CanadaPost.

First is the lack of tracking information from the point that CanadaPost hands the merchandise off to the USPS. What if it is damaged in shipment, is it insured? What if it is lost in shipment? Will MilestonePC take my word for it that it never arrived? Possibly, the USPS is tracking it and CanadaPost is just too lazy to obtain and pass along the tracking info.

Second is the fact that I paid a little over $3k for this notebook and the fact that MilestonePC ships it via the Canadian and United States Postal Services (!!!!) is just a little frightening, considering the condition of much less fragile things that have arrived on my doorstep via the USPS and my friendly local mail carrier.

On the positive side, MilestonePC has been very responsive to inquiries and they do post here on the site. My comments are not intended to scare anyone away from purchasing through them. But if you are really intent on purchasing LG through MilestonePC, I wanted to give you an idea of the process and time it takes to obtain the merchandise.

I will provide an update when I get the notebook.

yo man i am in the same boat that you are in...i orderd the s1 and it was shipped on jult 27th...and if you still havn't got yours yet then i am never going to get mines considering that i live in hawaii and they are probably going to ship it here by slow boat!!! this is rediculous...i may just have to order fomr some place else and then some how just cancel my s1...cuz i have to leave for college soon...i think all the paperwork and the customs work would have been well worth a higher price considering that it would only take maybe 3 or 4 days to get to hawaii rather than 23-26 days( i went on the site and calculated it)...i think milestone pc has to update their site because i thought i was paying for ups 2day when i actually got 23-26 day canadapost shipping...sorry if i am "bad mouthing" the company but i just find this whole situation a bit rediculous...on a good note though...danny at milestone pc did answer all my email within a timely manner

Hiya Zoyo. Great news (for me at least). I arrived home and the box was at my door. I'm in the process of booting it up and getting everything up to spec on it. I took pictures and will post a review in the next week or so. Keep the faith man. It'll get to you.

Sorry about the shipment being so slow, I didn't realized that when I shipped them, I did a calculation when I shippd them, I got screwed up by Canadapost website too. When I tried an example on the site before I shipped, it shows to ship from Toronto to Texas will take 7-8 business days by expedited service ( you can try this by yourself: http://www.canadapost.com/personal/tools/rc/res/bin/rc_res_us-e.asp, original postal code is L3R 5Y2 ), I felt that was not too bad, it will be faster than we ship to our US office and go to your home from there. I didn't realize it will so much longer than the web estimate, in the future, I will choose the expresspost which should double the speed. Sorry about that again, guys.

Congrats Zoyo!! Optimized mine last night and runs rings around my desktop. Enjoy. But be careful if you set up the Omnipass fingerprint reader and password software. When I was optimizing my settings, something must have happened to the Omnipass software and/or Windows XP because at the logon screen, the Omnipass software will recognize my finger scan, but it will not log me on. I've done some research and there are comments about this software having some bugs. Omnipass appears to work normally elsewhere, just won't function at logon. I read about a fix involving logging in as Administrator so I'll try that and see. Just be careful when optimizing.

Update on the Omnipass software. Threw in the towel and removed it from the system. Started to hang the system on startup and shutdown. Even hung windows while I was trying to work with it.

I love the fingerprint scan feature, but will wait for better software before I try to activate it again.
