    connecting laptop to plasma tv with hdmi

    I tried connecting my lg r310 laptop to my panasonic plasma tv via hdmi cable and the laptop either does not recognize the connection or when it does recognize the connection it will not display the laptop screen on the tv even if I press Fn F7 or detect and select tv thru screen graphics. I have tested cable and will borrow a friends laptop tomorrow to rule out that out.
