To describe my frustration with LG right now is an understatement. Their "policy" of not posting bios updates on their website is down to pure laziness. I've been told everything from LG does not trust their own customers, to the bios update process is so complicated, you must bring it to a service center, pay $100 and we will update it for you. What rubbish. Some laptop models have bios updates on their website, others simply don't exist. Yet we all know there are updated bios files in existence.

Every other major computer manufacturer provides bios updates for their customers. LG does not in a consistant basis.

So it comes down to this. Rather than pay $100 to a service center, I would rather put this money into someone else's pocket.

Since there is not a service center anywhere near close to where I live, I figure why not ask here.

What I want is the latest version of the LG BIOS cd/iso. I have 3 in my possession, but all date from the beginning of 2008. It's now almost 2010. There must be a late edition 2009 version of this bios cd.

Now alternatively, I know LG have a service center website. On there are various service manuals for their televisions and other appliances. I suspect the bios cd is also on this website, but it's a private resource so to speak. So unless you know of someone who has access or a service center person will login for you, this is a dead end for getting updates.

I am determined to get the latest version bios for my laptop, and also want to be able to help everyone else who is after this as well.

Thoughts, suggestions, anyone have anything to add on how we might proceed?

This is great news justfixit. You may have a good contact by the sounds of things. What I am after, and I know hundreds of others are on here as well, is the latest version of the LG BIOS CD. It's a collection of all the latest bioses for LG's laptops. Your contact will know about this CD. The tricky part is whether or not he will let you have a copy. Best to bring a blank cd/dvd with you just in case, so he can make a copy for you.

    Hey guys!

Been a long time since I've been on here last.

I'm usually in the Asus section, but I thought I'd check out the LG section since I have a contact at LG. :p

    Whereabouts are you guys located?

Anyone have any updates or if they are planning on visiting a service center?

That is the only way most of us will ever see updates for our LG laptops. So far it seems surprisingly simple for the ones who have gone in, taken a blank cd or two and walked out with copies of the LG BIOS UPDATE cd.

We can do it guys, think positive.

I found out some rather annoying news recently. LG have removed their notebook product line from a few countries and have so apparently for over a year. Add to this the canceling of some of their contracted service centers, and this doesn't bode well for getting more bios updates.

However, there are many service centers still open around the world. As I mentioned before, it's actually very easy to get if you take along some blank CDs with you.

So the call goes out again, who here lives near an LG service center? and if you're not sure and want to help everyone get some new bioses, post your city and I'll help track one down.
