I've been looking online (can't find any resellers in Oz who have ever sold one) and can' find anyway to by the thing. Are they around? In US, or only Canada?

LG doesn't sell in the US--only Canada. There are some German sites that sell it for a ridiculous amount in Euros unless you get the least well-equipped version (which is fine since it still has the same CPU and 80GB HDD).

The C1 is a good deal here in Saudi, it's about $1700 at closeout prices but it has the older U2500 CPU. Wait a min, you are in OZ, don't they sell LG over there? Have you tried this page:

Edit: Here is another link that will help you, not sure why you haven't seen all this (webdeals does have 5+ in stock or so they say). Google is your friend :)

I think the C1 is a still a relevant machine and will continue to be so next month after Penryn is announced, especially if you throw in a $400 Samsung 32GB SSD from newegg.

Yeah I googled it. But all these sellers in OZ say they have stock but actually just drop ship. The stock magically dries up on order and suddenly it will ship in 4-6 weeks. I'd love to be able to check. one out in the flesh before buying. But I guess I'll have to take a punt.

Found one. After an extensive search of all the various sites for a used one with no success, I found a reseller here that called a contact at LGE and found one of the last four in the country. Couple of minutes later and a lighter credit card and one is on it's way to me :)

So how much did you pay, and did you get the U2500 or the U7600?

We only get one choice so thankfully it's a good one:
U7600 with 100GB hard drive, comes with DVD burner and both the 3 and 6 cell battery. $2600AU.

Funny how webdeals said they had 5 in sotck when LG says there's only 4 new ones left for the whole country. Of course when I rang webdeals they certainly didn't have one.

$2600 ($2320 US) is not a bad deal for OZ. Still expensive for a bit of a dated laptop but not a bad deal at all. Congrats on your new purchase.
