    Ive just been playing with my LG LS50-6 which i got today and ive been using it plugged into the DC and the bottom of it gets way to hot to be normal? its only been sitting on my lap and on my bed so it shouldnt get that hot should it?!

    Like im not doing much besides playing some MP3s and talking on MSN, maybe its just my room is hot or is it soemthing worse?!

    Is the fan kicking on? The heat is probably near the RAM, which gets used a lot with MP3's.

    CPU and HDD will get used constantly while listening to mp3's also... I concur with brian, as long as the fan is on it should be fine. It will also get warm faster on AC power, since the battery will heat up

    I bought it from david Jones for $2400, i hvant tried dvds yet though...

    Yeah i can feel the fan on the left hand side and thats the main part it heats up too? But i was thinking maybe when its on my bed or my lap it sinks a bit so maybe my legs or matress is over lapping the fan a bit?

    The fans have a bunch of speeds, at the highest speed they are still quieter than the hard drive..So if you really want to hear the fan, stick your head to the keyboard and you should be able to hear it when the laptop is warm :)

    If the vents are getting covered with your leg or blanket or whatever, the notebook will probably heat up a lot more and a lot faster.. one of the reasons you don't hear the fan is because they use heat piping to shed heat without the fans needing to be on or on very high most of the time.. for that to work the vents have to be clear

    as long as the vents are not completely blocked i wouldn't worry about it, it will heat up a bit more - but as long as the air has a way of getting out it just means the fans will be working overtime.

    pjhul, DVD playback works great on the LM50.. I would imagine the LS50 isn't much different.

    check the thread titled "new notebooks" in the LG forum, if you are buying you might want to look at some of the new ones coming out next month :)

    ennoia, can you explain the major difference between an LM series notebook and an LS. there seems to be very little difference in the specifications.

    Thanks

    [EDIT]Sorry this info is not valid, I was wrong. The only difference seams to be cosmetic not specifications.[/EDIT]
    LS => P4
    LM => PM
    LM is lighter, thinner and colder as far as I know.
