got Windows Vista post-RC1 build 5728 installed on the LG T1 (unfortunately, didn't get lucky. it was the 7001A9 model, but no WXGA+. oh well, still a BEAUTIFUL laptop)

i will vouch for this laptop: it runs Vista's Aero Glass PERFECTLY. 100% perfectly smooth, all effects. transparency, Flip 3D, etc. etc.

it is "only" an Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics chip, but, apparently, that is absolutely enough.

Aero Glass worked perfectly straight out of the Vista installation. I didn't have to change or add anything. Just went through the Vista installation, and it was working perfectly. WDDM drivers and all.

I have the model with 1440x900 (WXGA+). No problems with Aero Glass. Vistas own system performance-check actually recommended none of the eye candy to be turned off. Flip 3D sometimes was just a little bit "choppy" when juggling with many windows, but you'd have to be looking for it. Almost everything worked without having to install any drivers. Of course, some of the model-specific functions, such as Fan Control, didn't work. Well, maybe... I couldn't really tell without OSD. Overall, I was really surprised, how well this machine performed with Vista.

Here are the few issues, I noticed:
    - It took more time to enter and return from standby and hibernation than with XP. I guess it's software-related. Vista is known to use more ram (but in a more efficient way), and more use of ram means longer enter/return times when it comes to standby and hibernation. I still find it a bit strange though, seeing as reducing boot/standby/hibernate times was a big issue for Microsoft with Vista.
    - The Volume buttons worked, which is great. But using them wasn't a smooth experience and often the volume-slider froze, and then took a huge leap afterwards. With proper drives, I don't think this will be a problem though.

Version tested: Windows Vista Ultimate Edition - Release Candidate 1

Conclusion: The T1 performs WAY better with Vista, than I even dared hoping for - and that's with just 1 GB of ram.

    My specs:
    T1 Express
    1,66 ghz
    1 GB Ram
    1440x900 resolution.

Vista is wayy more hard drive intensive than XP. From what I noticed, the search function is constantly indexing the drive. Of course, the 4200RPM drive in the T1 is its achillies heal. I've turned off desktop search on my T1 and noticed better performance. Anyone know of any high performance 1.8" drives on the market? I'd pay pretty much anything to replace the slow as sh*t one that comes with the T1.

    :::

Yes, the 1.8" HDD is the drawback of T1,
super slow for everythings. Maybe you can wait
for a faster spec 1.8" HDD to replace later.
Thats why all IBM X series don't use 1.8"
anymore....... For me, I let the T1 go.....

what is the actuall battery life time you get on the laptop? the review on notbookreview.com doesnt specify that clearly (just estimated). I would like to know the maximum battery life with wifi-on, browsing the web constantly while listening to music and maybe some chatting.

and the hdd of only 4200rpm. is it noticable? does windows boot up slower than other laptops and does it effekt the start of programs or file transfering?

about the screen with 1440x900, can someone post an image what is actually looks like? is the glossy screen bothering, and are the texts too small to view with 1440x900 resoluation?

Can it play games like half-life 2, sim city 4, oblivion?
