    Hello All
The screen on my LW40 Express has decided to go so dark it could be mistaken for not even on at all. I have no idea what happened to it because I don't even fold the screen shut. I leave it up all the time. Turned it on this morning and the screen did not come on although the laptop is on. After close inspection, I figured out that the screen is on but so dark, you can't make anything out on it. I connected an external screen which worked fine. The brightness is to the max. It's happening regardless if the power is connected or not. Has anyone experienced this before? IS the screen gone?
    Thanks
    Rafik

What type of screen is it ??? Is it one of those LED ones? I suspect not , Im guessing your backlight is broken... this is common still. If your lucky maby you just knocked it alot and the lcd backlight power cable fell out (Its a little two pin one with a pink and white wires) , But i dont think thats whats happend

Backlight failure is most probable and if you are good with stuff you can dissasemble your screen and just replace the backlight withn that of another screen... But its tricky and results in light bleed ect...

I just took it to the LG service centre, apparently its the invertor, whatever that is. About $110 to replace.

Oh right , That would make sence lol... Yeh inverters are specific to laptops , whereas screens are universal (basically) so they can probably charge $110... But when they say inverter did they say what exactly was wrong with it???

(PS) the invertor is a little thing normally just below the screen but still in the screen part of the laptop. If you wanna replace it yourself youll need ton get a specific one for your laptop and it shouldnt cost more than $50... but it requires you to take the screen and somtimes even the base apart
