    Hi all,

Trying to find a hard-drive to upgrade my LG LS50. I am considering a Hitachi 5K120, or a Momentus 5400.4 120GB hard drive. The problem is there seems to be a lot of different connectors (SATA, ATA, IDE, PATA etc), and I am not sure if I am limited for the size of the HDD.

    Code:
    - Display: 15" SXGA(1400 x 1050)
    - CPU: Intel® Pentium® M 1.8GHz Dothan
    - Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
    - Video Memory: 128MB
    - Resolution: 15'inch SXGA(1400 x 1050)
    - Memory: 1024MB (DDR 333MHz)
    - HDD: 80GB
    - ODD: DVD±RW
    - Wireless: Intel Pro/ Wireless Mini LAN Card 802.11b/g(Mini-PCI)
    - PC Card: Type I or Type II
    - Multi-card Reader
    - Pointing/KBD: Touchpad with 2 buttons / 86 Keys
    - OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Editio
However, even after extensive googling / reading manual / searching forums - I'm a bit lost about what kind of hard-drive I can use/buy:

Would anyone know which one(s) of the following types of drives would I be able to use?

    - IDE
    - Ultra-ATA
    - Serial-ATA
    - Parallel-ATA

Also, I haven't updated the BIOS since I bought the laptop two years ago. I'm also having quite a lot of difficulty looking for a place to upgrade the BIOS (and other drivers) - the LG website seems quite sparse on older models. Would anyone be able to direct me to a place where I could find these drivers/BIOS?

Also, would I be limited as to how many GB my hard drive I could be?

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

well id take the harddrive out you have in the laptop you should be able to tell waht it uses probly says on it. 2 years old you can rule out serial-ata my guess it will be ide or ultra-ata most likely ide.
