    I own an Australian purchased LG LS50a notebook and have been looking to upgrade some of the device drivers.

    Neither LG australia or Canada's websites have any downloads for laptop drivers so I only have those that came on the original CD.

    I would certainly like to upgrade the ATI mobility drivers for the 9600 and it would be great if I could upgrade the ac97 sound card drivers to a version that would let me use that soundmax control panel that many other notebooks have. (So I could get a little better control over s/pdif etc).

    Any tips on where to look for Windows XP drivers that would be compatible with the hardware on this (and im sure many of you guys) notebook?

    And while im here, can anyone educate me on how to use the memory card and firewire ports?
    I tried an SD card from a digital camera and got nothing from it, and the firewire plug on my friends Ipod is a different size than the 1334 port on the side of my notebook? Sorry if im sounding a little clueless, any info would be appreciated.

    For video and sound card drivers, you could just go straight to the manufactuerers... ATI and Intel should have updated drivers on their site

    I don't run windows, so for me i just have to open a command line and type :
    $ emerge ati-drivers

    :D

    You should be able to get an adapter for the different size firewire plug.. or a different firewire cable that has the right plug size

    On the Australian site,
    The drivers can be found under the PC section rather than the notebook section, rather odd. No new versions last time I checked (fortnight ago).

    So your s/pdif works? I had no luck with mine.

    I also had no luck with my sd memory card.. put it in.. nothing happened. I assume its incompatible with my card. :(
