The first Core 2 Duo LG to show up will be S1-M002A9, the first shipment will be only 10 units in Canada, I hold 6 of these already, 4 sold, 2 left. The current ETA for it is late next week.

All other upcoming models should show up soon, because I saw their sku# from distributors already, this is always a sign to show up soon.

Tomorrow I will talk to LG again to get better ETAs, today was busy with the list compiling.

Hopefully there'll be price drops on the current systems (w/ Core Due processors) when the new Core 2 Duo notebooks are released.

    Guess what?

I contacted the swedish sales representative for notebooks about the release date of LW25 Pro and if LG TX would get an upgrade anytime soon.

    The response was:

    :D

He also sent me an excel spreadsheet with all the new models (including a port replicator) and their specifications, but thats probably old news for all of you.

To MilestonePC.com ... since you've had a few of the new S1 laptops in, do you know whether or not the S1-M002A9 or S1-P402A9 have an ExpressCard slot or a PCMCIA PC Card slot?

I'm trying to find a Core 2 Duo laptop with a decent video card (x1600/7600+), builtin gigabit ethernet that supports jumbo frames, and an ExpressCard slot. The combination is proving difficult to find. The S1 has everything except I can't verify the type of expansion card.

Im not sure but according to one of the reviews here on NoteBookReview, its stated that LG has used a slot that supports both. Im still a newbie with the expansion slot so im not sure myself.

""For connecting other expansion devices, LG has provided a single slot compatible with Cardbus/PCMCIA. There will be interesting Expresscard devices coming out in the near future but compatibility with the older format insures that you will able to use the cards you have already bought.""

    Hope this helps

As far as I'm aware... you can't have both in the same slot. That review was for the M001A9 model and sounds like it just has PC Card. I was hoping the M002A9 had an ExpressCard.

    http://www.synchrotech.com/support/cardbus-info-01.html#q002

check out that link.. then go to your notebook, open up Device Manager, and go down the list... if there is something with PCMCIA or ExpressCard, expand it and post what the text says. Like the "Ricoh ..... Compatible Cardbus Controller" in the picture on that link.

    Thanks!

    Hmm...yea i got it
There are two of them on here (one is the card reader i think)
The first one is 'PCMCIA Adapters' and when it is expanded, it says 'Generic CardBus Controller'
The second one is 'PCMCIA and Flash Memory Devices' and when expanded, it lists 'Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated Flash Media Controller'

Now waiting for the translation into normal terms.... :)

It' means it is PCMCIA (CardBus) and not ExpressCard. It looks like it's one of the integrated chips from Texas Instruments that supports CardBus, Flash Reader, and Firewire in one.

    Thanks

I don't know what to actually think about LG at all. I had an LG phone and it was a complete mess [broke several times and so on], I have an LG flat screen which isn't wonderful at all and now my best friend wants to buy an LG notebook and she asked me to go with her, but I do not want to let her buy something that is absolute crap.

So - are you happy with yours?
