    Hi,

Could owners of the T1 help me on this?

    From the Canadian website, it states that the T1-7 has the memory configuration: "2 X 512MB DDR2 (667MHz) Micro-DIMM + 512MB DDR2 (667MHz) SO+DIMM".

    Link here

Q1: Is there a 512MB soldered onto the board?
Q2: Are there 2 slots available for additional ram? Does it take SODIMM or Micro-DIMM?
Q3: In a LG product guide, it states that the T1 supports dual channel configuration. How is this possible if there is onboard memory?

Additionally, is the DVD drive replaceable with a weight saver? Is this supplied?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

In my configuration I had only 512MB.

The 512 DIMM (I guess its the Micro-DIMM you mentioned) was screwed to the motherboard, and one more SODIMM slot was available.

    The DVD is NOT replaceable.

thanks for the input. just what i've feared. with the 512MB DIMM soldered on, how is dual channel achieved if the other slot is populated with 1GB?

the brochures for the T1-7 states 2 DIMM slots for expansion, hopefully, the newer series are like this.

You didn't understand this correctly, "screwed" to the MB is different with soldered to the MB, it is still removable, for space saving purpose, all DDR2 667 micro-SODIMM is like this, not like older micro-sodimm(533) or regular sodimm using a slot and clips to hold memory, DDR2 667 micro-sodimm use a socket and screws to hold the memory.

thanks for the clarification. that means that the 2 slots available is 1 micro-sodimm and 1 "standard" sodimm? this apply to all revisions?

I upgrade memory on my T1 very easily and it took me less than 5 minutes. There is one Micro dimm slot and one so-dimm slot, both which are accessible from the keyboard. the keyboard is pretty easy to remove but you ahve to be careful. if you look along the top edge of the keyboard you will see 4 tiny tabs which hold the keyboard in place. to remove them use a very small flat head screw driver and slide them horizontally so they receede into the chassis. While pushing the tab in, use another small screw driver or paper clip to gently pry the top of the keyboard up so its not held in by that tab any more. Once you do this for all four tabs, the keyboard lifts right out. THen you remove the metal plate that protects the memory and internals. Two screws hold the MicroDimm in, once u unscrew gently pry the module up from the socket. and the So -dimm to the right is just as every other standard so dim. I only replaced my So-dimm to a 1gb DDR 2 667 so now I have 1.5gb total. I did not replace the Microdimm to a 1gb because I could not find any DDR2 667mhz microDimms and wanted to keep the memory speed mached for Dual channel mode. Anyone know where i can buy a 1gb DDR 2 667mhz microdimm?
