It takes 1 hour to burn a dvd at 8x.
Everything slows down while burning (even the cursur)

Dvd writer is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4082N

Does anyone have the same problem? Please help...

Has it always been this slow? Maybe a firmware upgrade for the dvd burner can solve the problem.

Looks like the ODD interface has gone into PIO mode. Read what Microsoft has to say on the subject. The cause may be difficulty in reading. See here.

John yes that seems to be the exact problem.
First I want to thank you!

Could you please help a dummy once more :)

I've uninstalled the drivers of all 3 components under IDE/ATAPI controllers

    1) IDE channel
    2)Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF
    3)Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller

After reboot it found both intels automatically and installed the drivers
But didn't install the driver of ide channel (it says something like the driver is not compatible with this platform)

    What should I do?

    Edit----------------
Ok I've got this one :)
If you have a virtual drive you must uninstall it first.

Thank you all for your time everyone :)

    Thanks for the update.

If your ODD is on the second IDE channel and the problem re-occurs then just uninstall that channel and then detect hardware changes (no need to reboot). However, this doesn't address the cause. In my case it was Nero having difficulty in verification of some discs it had burnt. Look for any firmware update for the ODD because this might fix burning problems.
