I need a laptop for law school this fall, and the T1's combination of price, features and (most importantly) size seems perfect. LG isn't one of the best-known manufacturers, and that leaves me a little worried. How are LGs known in terms of reliability and build quality? I read the review, which said that it felt a little insubstantial...has this been a problem? I really don't want to buy something which will be a lemon, or give me lots of problems?

Also, how is the keyboard? I know Thinkpads are supposed to be the industry's best, but I'll being doing a lot of typing, so how does the T1 compare in terms of size?

We don't have LG in the US, but most of what I hear from our friends in Canada is very positive in regard to LG. I wouldn't be concerned.

If you mean my review ... the T1 certainly doesn't feel flimsy. I was comparing to my old Z70V, which is made of carbom-fibre and is really tough. I assume they used plastics to keep the notebook thin and light. As long as you're reasonably careful with it, I don't forsee any problems.

That said, as per my other thread here, I'm looking around for a suitable sleeve for it for when I go back to school in Sept as added protection; I'd never just shove this into my Dickies bag unprotected :D

I can't compare to IBM's keyboards, since I've never used one for more than brief periods of time. The keyboard compares favorably to my ASUS tho, haven't had any problems with it yet.

i love my T1 :D the keyboard is one of the best keyboards i have used, from my old Hp and on a IMB x40 and a toshiba. For reliability and build quality, like emmzee said it certainly doesnt feel flimsy, i am holding mine with one hand on one of the corners and its very sturdy and the i dont see/feel any flex on it.

With a 1 year global warrenty and extra 2 year warrenty in canada, more than any other manufacturer, LG stands behind their product.
