Hi everyone. I'm looking to get myself an R500 and I was wondering how the WSGXA+ screen is. I'm worried that it's going to be too small or maybe grainy as I've never seen an LG laptop screen in that high a resolution before. Are the fonts really tiny? And if I were to switch the resolution to the non-native 1440x900 would it get really blurry?

If anyone could shed a light on this, I'd be grateful. I wouldn't want to spend a lot and then end up hating the screen. (No LG resellers in this area, so the most I could do is check out other laptops with the same resolution, but I won't really see for myself how the R500 is.) Thanks in advance!

    Hi Milkbox,
The resolution at 1650 x 1050 is a bit small but not grainy at all. I still recommand the laptop for it overall quality...just impressive. I have mine with a intel t7500 and 2g Ram + Turbo memory and Vista....well it just work perfect, it's fast and responsive. Wireless capabilities are excellent. It is also very good to dissipate the heat.

The only thing I don't like it the glossy screen (when I use my laptop outside) but still the screen is so good...

LG use to built IBM Laptop...well I am sure they have copied one thing or two. Quality is impressive.

I second what nicktycoon said. The LCD screen is great! Not grainy either. At first 1680x1050 seemed a little small, but after a few days, it seemed fine and using any other laptop with a smaller res seems huge now. lol Even if you were to go to a 1440x900, the nvidia card does nice scaling and isn't really blurry at all. ...better than most other laptops I've seen when doing scaling.

Thanks! The specs are great, it was only the screen resolution that I was feeling iffy about. I was this.close to getting a Dell M1530 or an Asus F3 until I remembered to check out LG. My dad has one it's built like a tank.

    I guess I'll go get my R500 now... ;)

... Yeah, I was in the same boat as you before. I was considering either this, or the Dell XPS M1530. I was so close to getting the M1530, but this computer had a better resolution LCD, and at the time, no one was sure if the XPS had GDDR3 video memory or not, so I went with the LG. Really happy with the choice.

Oh, and the 8600m GT on the LG can overclock a lot! (Well, at least mine did.. and OC at your own risk! lol)

Not to mention that I won't need to get into the LG screen lottery. The screen is already LG.
