    So basically I have my R500 the way I want.... minus the French/Canadian keyboard (if anyone knows where to buy the US version or the Korean version, please PM me), and a few quirks.

    I had to install Vista64 because I ended up upgrading the R500 to 4GB RAM and Vista32 only uses 3GB.

    After installing Vista 64, I had to find 64 bit drivers for everything. The fingerprint Omnipass app was the worst to find. Someone else on this forum already posted it, but if anyone needs the link, I'll go find it again and post it in this thread.

    It seems like LG didn't make any of their laptop bundle software in 64bit as all their apps install under the 32bit Program Files location. If anyone knows where the 64 bit version of Intelligent Update, Battery Miser, and OSD are, please post up here so other people who are trying to go to the 64bit version of Vista will be able to upgrade quicker.

    Battery Miser seems to work in 64 bit with no problems, minus the auto dimmer getting dim then all of a sudden getting bright again without touching anything.

    OSD works properly for the most part, but when you press the SRS button, it will come up with a message saying: [SRS] button only works with system with SRS. lol I think it was hard coded to look where the 32bit version of the SRS Realtek driver is installed, because if you go to the 64bit control panel of the audio driver, you can manually turn on/off SRS and SurroundXT.

    Intelligent Update. Oh man.... this app doesn't like Vista64. It doesn't even run at all. You launch the app, then search for updates, and nothing pops up. Intelligent Update?? ...not so intelligent.

    LG needs to get their act together and release some 64 bit versions of their software, because not everyone in the world uses 32bit!

    On another note, if anyone needs any updated drivers and can't read Korean I have the latest drivers. Since I am Korean I can navigate and download the latest drivers directly from lge.co.kr. I guess whoever requests, I'll just post how to download the driver.

    Other than that, I found all the drivers and apps from various sites required to run the R500 perfectly on Vista 64bit.

    ...and lastly.... if anyone knows anything about how to get a replacement keyboard, as stated above, PLEASE message me, as I'm really getting frustrated how they moved the slash button in between the " and the enter key.... ugh!

    I'm interested in putting Vista x64 on this laptop too.

    Do you know if any of the programs from LG have been updated on the Korean website or if there is any news for support of Vista 64?

    Mind posting some of the links or even a hardware list for all the devices that will require the 64 bit drivers?

    Also, without programs like battery miser etc, will the battery continue to charge when over certain temperature or overcharge?

    Thanks!

    Hey... I'm at work right now... but, I'll try to write a guide later today.... I'll post up links and what not tonight when I get home from work. LG does indeed have newer drivers... but unfortunately, only on the Korean website. I'll post links to that as well.

    ...but the best thing is, I got almost every piece of software to work on Vista64!! The only things that don't work is: the hardware SRS button (still says only works with systems with SRS function) and LG Intelligent Update. Honestly, those 2 things are kinda worthless anyways, espically the LG intelligent update, since you can just go to the links that i'll post later and check yourself.

    Hey thanks!

    Looking forward to your reply. :)

    I don't know, I kinda like that SRS button. But if it means being able to take advantage of 4GB of ram instead of 3.whatever, I'm all for it.

    Are you happy you switched to 64?

    Sorry about the late reply.... I had a unexpected business trip overseas. Just got back and I'm really jetlagged. Anyways.. I'm happy that I made the jump to 64 bit.... still trying to figure a way to contact the right person at LG to get that SRS button fixed.

    Anyways, on with the drivers....

    Get the intel INF driver from intel.com

    Get the 64bit nvidia driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com

    Go to LG Korea: http://www.lgservice.co.kr/SearchSddr.laf and click on the first drop down column. Select the 2nd option (which means computer), then click XNOTE for the 2nd drop down item box, and the 3rd dropdown box, click R500.

    Download the latest drivers from there. Also check out P300 for newer drivers.

    I'll search tonight for where to get the fingerprint driver along with the Omnipass 64bit app. (That was the hardest one to find.) Once you find the omnipass app, everything else is easy.

    I'll explain more tonight. I'm at work right now and kinda busy.

    Thanks for the replies and all the links.

    How do you know if the downloaded driver is for 64 OSes? It never really says.

    Did you ever find OSD and Intelligent Update for 64?

    hey YG007, did you have any luck finding Omnipass to work on 64bit or get a 64 version that is not the trial one?

    Everything working here, sweet 64.. 32 never more...

    Uh the SRS button really don´t work, I think the sollution is easy but above my knowledge lol....

    LG in Brasil never answered my e-mails, the consumer here is treated like sh**...

    Hi everyone,

    Model : LG R500-x.xxxxxx
    OS : Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
    Problem : Compatible Drivers/Software Not Found

    I also have a R500 laptop, notebook and it seems that LG does not want to support yet the 64-bit version.

    The good news is that I almost have all the drivers working but two.
    Here are the two drivers and software that I am missing:
    - Audio : SRS WOW HD, SRS TruSurround XT
    - Multimedia Card Slot : 5-in-1 (XD/SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro)

    For those of you that need help with:
    - Intel® Turbo Memory
    - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager
    - NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
    I have the solution and the drivers for the Vista 64-bit

    *** NOTE : the Bluetooth from Soleil may stop you from booting up your system. Please insert your DVD OS and go into repair mode, select Promt DOS and delete the *.sys or file that causes the failure ***

    UPDATES : I will try to create a site with all the required updates for the R500 64-bit.

    If anyone has the softwares and drivers for the 2 devices that I am trying to install please inform me.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    soulpaladin

    Hey soulpaladin,

    If you could post direct links or even host them on a website, I'm sure a few of us that do have this laptop would appreciate it. That way people looking for the drivers will stumble across this thread and be able to access them.

    Does any of the LG software work? Intelligent update, OSD, battery miser?

    Thanks!

    Hello! (^o^)

    I am working on it, I should have it up and running soon.
    So that you know, the Intelligent Update is a negative.
    For the Battery Miser, there is one that works but the one from the OS has all the advance features that you'll need. You really do not need that software at all.

    OSD... can't recall what is that for but I do have the Finger Print working fine. Also Infineon Security Platform works good. Of course you can only use that feature if you have EPASS tokens or a secure flash cards.

    The drivers that I will post will only be the ones that can be installed on 64 bit. The rest can be installed from your CD/DVD or from a LG Japan site.

    All the info will be added... just give me some time.
    Thank you

    Hi again,

    It's done, I didn't feel like creating a site for it so I added the driver into my forum.

    Here is the URL : http://soulpaladin.com/forum/
    Go into : General
    Click on : LG R500 Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit Drivers

    You'll find the following drivers that are all working on my R500 laptop/notebook.

    * Battery Miser.zip
    * BlueSoleil Bluetooth.zip
    * Intel Chipset.zip
    * Intel Turbo Memory.zip
    * Intel Wireless.zip
    * LG Magnifier.zip
    * nVidia GeForce 8600M GT.zip
    * OmniPass.zip
    * OnBoard Intel LAN.zip
    * OSD (On Screen Display).zip
    * Realtek Sound-SRS.zip
    * Smart Cam.zip
    * TI CardBus & FlashMedia Controller.zip

    If there is any question or help, I will try my best to see what I can do.
    Hope this will help many of you.

    Hey! (^o^)

    It's my pleasure, I haven't tested them all to the fullest so there may be bugs or issues with the drivers. The video driver may glitch, had issues with Guild Wars that the response time gets slower. But that I am not sure if it's from the driver or the OS itself.

    Vista is still very new and Microsoft is trying to take the XP off the market. That will force DELL, IBM and many other manufactures to support better the 32/64 bit. Well that is the plan but we can look at XP 64bit and the results on the drivers or not that great.

    This is really frustrating that LG and the other manufactures aren't supporting all OS's. Thanks god we aren't using Unix or Linux yet, the support would be zero percent, none at all.

    This is why again Unix and Linus aren't popular as well, not friendly user, not many games or programs and NO SUPPORT at all from your manufacture. Your all by yourself.

    If ever I get the chance I will install FreeBSD or Mandriva, anyways...

    Take care and thank you all for your support.
    Bye

    Did you remove the drivers from your site? I was unable to find them using the details above.

    I live in Canada and just bought a new LG R500 from Future Shop. It came preloaded with Windows Vista Home 64bit, but I did a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit edition only to find no driver support.

    I really need to get my hands on the 64bit Vista drivers, or I will have to return the laptop.

    Please recheck the site, I've updated it and added back the drivers.
    Note that the internet speed is low.

    Thanks for the update soulpaladin!

    I haven't found a sound driver which works perfectly with the SRS button yet. I'm just using the drivers from the manufacturer.

    Do you use the fingerprint reader in x64?

    That graphics driver update has been a godsend. I was previously using the laptopvideo2go drivers from Dox, which did not throttle graphics card speeds on my card. It was running 90+ C idle!

    I've had no issues with these drivers. Give it a shot! Just remember they're technically "beta".

    :cool:

    EDIT:
    Anyone tried updating their BIOS from here? Not sure which version to use? Changelog?

    Thanks krackpot for all the info.

    It's hard to keep track of all the updates.
    - On a bad news, my laptop died exactly a year from the moment I got it. Took a month and a week to have it back. LG said that they had to change the motherboard.

    About your question : "Do you use the fingerprint reader in x64?"
    I do use it but it only works about 96% of the time.
    If ever you are locking your computer and AFK for like 20min or more. It doesn't detected the usb finger print device.

    If there is anything, just email me.
    Have a good one

    Bye (^o^)

    Update: New OSD program which enables the SRS button.

    1) Went to the LG Support Site (select your region).

    2) From the Drop down:
    Product: notebook
    Series: all
    OS: Vista
    Subject: OSD

    Then hit search.

    3) Downloaded "[Program/Vista] LG Notebook OSD(On Screen Display) Program P310/PB310" file name is OSD_64bit.zip, filesize 9,222KB.

    Installed version: 5.0508.1011.01
    Shows up as a 64bit program in Task Manager.

    FINALLY!

    Side note: I am just using the Drivers for the sound card from Realtek's website.

    Hope this helps those of you who are using Vista x64! :cool:

    Bad news,

    About 9 weeks ago my laptop did not respond, not booting anymore. The exact model I had is no longer on the LG site and LG never could replace the motherboard. So I was stuck on exchange it for an equal one or better.

    Unfortunately they did not have anything even close to by baby laptop which I miss. After nearly 3 hours at the store to find something equal. I finally got that huge one called the : HP HDX 18-1180CA Premium.

    Yeah I know, it is very different and heavier. The only thing I enjoy about it is the 18.4" screen.

    Thanks krackpot for your help and support.
    I guess that from now on I'll be stuck on HP support issues. (ToT) *sniff*

    Take care everyone and thank you for everything.
    See you around and I'll leave the drivers there.

    i have the r500 running fine ,display is mobile pc but running at the right res,mass storage (card reader is not working yet) and the web cam is not working ,but everything else is ok.
    I used driver genius to locate all the drivers its running at 4.1 which is a bit slower as with vista 32 it was 4.8.
    But its running good ,solid no hickups
    If anyone has more info on drivers let me know
