Just want to cover the keyboard from food spills and crumbs and the like. I don't eat or drink around my computer.

that's simply not true, and a very flippant and dismissive way of responding to a legitimate question. I, too, would like to purchase a keyboard cover for my LG P310, but am unable to find any companies that have covers for LG laptops.

I used a keyboard cover for my last laptop (Asus) and you would not believe the difference it makes. While it is of course prudent to never eat or drink near your computer, it is nice to have a silicon cover that would mean a few drops of some liquid will not be fatal to your laptop in the case of an accident, which can happen unless you really are the most prudent of persons (have you never ever had a drink while writing a term paper? and it need not even be your fault-- what about in class or at the library when someone jostles into you while holding a drink in their hands? It is not out of the realm of possibility).

Even setting aside accidents involving food or drink, the keyboard cover preserves the keyboard from discoloration from hands (oils and the like, and if you've looked at old laptops, you'll see what I mean, unless made of really high quality materials), and also from dust and other particles getting beneath the keys. The keyboard cover I used kept the keyboard looking absolutely pristine and protected it when I accidentally spilled a few drops of water on the keyboard.

I see you have the LG P310. You may not have experienced this yet, but I've found the silver paint on the keyboard is very prone to chipping. I do not have long fingernails, nor do I spend an inordinate amount of time on my laptop, and I've already had a couple keys that are chipped. A keyboard protector would also help prevent such chipping.

Regardless, I fail to see why you respond to a question with such sarcasm. You may not see the need for a keyboard cover, but the market definitely exists (MANY people who saw my old keyboard cover for the Asus asked me where I got it and immediately ordered one for their own laptops) and it is short-sighted to claim that the product is frivolous. If you don't know where to get a cover fitted for LGs, then at least have the kindness to keep from making snippy comments to those that are looking.

Seajewel: I hope I didn't offend anyone, I just never have thought of anything like that. A cover for my keyboard? I don't see the reason why I would need one. I didn't even know companies made those things.

I've spilt things on my computer before but never had problems cleaning them off.

As for the discoloration thing, my keyboard's paint is rubbing off but it doesn't affect the performance of my keyboard, sure cosmetically it doesn't look that great, but how I see it is that it's part of normal wear and tear and I don't mind it.

Whatever kapebrtoner's reason for wanting one is his/her business and it doesn't matter to me what choices he/she makes for whatever reason.

I would like a keyboard protector just in case it is needed. While I don't as a rule eat or drink around my laptop, people constantly stop to chat or show you a file and in the process bring their food with them. I have a keyboard ruined thru no fault of my own. It is like driving, I am not worried about my own but everybody elses.

Seajewel Wow. I just restated what kapebretoner himself said, and now he has taken his time to explain in full, which was very kind of him and he has a point. Compare post #3 and #4 in this thread. Personally I would need a keyboard cover very much as I tend to spill tea on all my electronics.

Kapebretoner It seems these fellows provide keyboard protection for LG but I can't find a reseller. http://cooskin.en.alibaba.com/ http://www.cooskin.com
Finding a reseller of their products should not be too hard. Alibaba only sells in quantities of 1000. :/
    Wishful thinking would be this:
    http://shop.ebay.com/items/__CooSkin-TPU
If one of those computers had the exact same layout as the LG...
Anyhow, the CooSkin you should be looking for is a TPU type with model number NQ***. NQ is their code for LG.
    This is the product information:
    http://www.wdexporters.com/catalogs/4/5/9/2060/200708/11/1007744.html

It is too bad http://www.kbprotector.com/ do not provide for LG

    Good luck.

Sorry. I realize my post was a bit oversensitive, but I had found the comment about not eating or drinking near your computer rather unhelpful and condescending. That may not have been your intention, but it came across to me that way for all the reasons i stated in my original post.

Aye, moods are hard to convey in text when you're not writing a novel. Sarcasm is easily misinterpreted. Anyhow, I hope I don't run into the problems you have had with your laptop. I for one bite my nails so that part should not be a problem. :]
