Problem: Laptop can't switch on when the adaptor is plugged in. The laptop's battery sign does not light up either (like it didn't detect any power supply). But when I insert the laptop battery in along with the adaptor plugged in, my laptop was able to start up. It was able to detect both the battery and the charger (adaptor). While the laptop is running, I removed the battery but left the adaptor plugged in, my laptop continued to function and was able to detect 'no battery'. Doesn't seem to be an adaptor problem otherwise my laptop would have shut down when I removed the battery?

This occurred just recently. I forgot to switch off the adaptor so it was over the night (my laptop's battery sign was on for the entire night). I wonder what's wrong with it.

Can anyone help me with this? Does it need immediate attention? This sucks, I need my laptop for work/school assignments
