Post your notebook model, CPU type and the temperature analysis software.

    I have a S1 pro with a c2duo T7200
    CPU idle: 43-45 Celsius
    Cpu load: 55-60 Celsius
    HDD: 25-30 Celsius

I use intel thermal analysis tool for the CPU and speedfan for the HDD, since speedfan only gives me the temps of one core.

I think that for a core 2 duo the idle temperature of 45 C is a little bit high. Is it normal?

not really as my T2300 idles between 50-55oC, since your TDP is higher than mine i would expect yours to be hotter but it seems your laptop has good cooling.

Yes, thats pretty normal. Infact, the hard disk seems a little cool. The can withstand high temperatues of 100 C, before any physical damage occurs. The notebook will probably get unstable before this, and turn off itself. Hard disks are designed, so they can endure these temperatures. Normally, 40 C in a desktop hard drive after a couple of years, would result in premature death, but notebook hard disks are built to much more stringent guidelines.

Yes, hard disk temperature will increase, because it is difficult to dissapate the heat in a notebook. In a desktop, there is always some sort of active cooling, so there is always some airflow over the hard disk. In a notebook, the hard disk is placed ina small space, with no airflow at all. So, heat cannot be lost, or very little is lost through conduction. Also, the hard disk is always spinning, because Windows is always asking for something from it. This means the hard disk is constantly active, which means that it is porducing heat.

Ah right, I wrongly read the post . Yes, the hard disk temperature is good, and it appears that your notebook does have good cooling. My hard disk also reaches about 45 idling. It gets warm around the left side, but it is nothing that bothers me. Does your get very warm?
