    Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the right place for this...

I'm trying to debate between the two laptops, as they both "seem" similar in that their smaller laptops with a better GPU.

I was curious what thoughts were on the pros and cons of each and which one you'd lean towards?

    Thanks!

I'd go for the P300, as much as I like Dell. Weighs less, far better graphics card, better cooling, better building quality. The only thing lacking is the integrated optical, which I personally don't miss much on my Dell D420.

The LG P300 the superior of all 13" notebooks. If you're in the market for a 13" notebook and have the chance to buy it, that should be your first choice. No other 13" notebook can match its performance.

If I was able to get a P300 easily in the UK, I'd of bought it over the m1330 without hesitation. The lack of an internal optical drive on the P300 seems significant until you remember that reading from discs is a real battery drain anyway, better making images on the HDD.

The P300 is thinner as well. FutureShops here carry both the m1330 and p300, and most of the time, right next to each other. The wristrest on the m1330 is more solid as the P300's wristrest feels awkwardly thin, but perhaps thats just me.

I don't think future shop carries the LED version of the m1330 does it? Unfortunately the smaller sized store near me doesn't have the LG P300 on hand either, only the E300.

For what it's worth I'm looking at similar models and this is what I've found:

Of the half a dozen models I looked at the other day and comparing screens the m1330 (non LED) was easily the worst of the bunch. The vertical viewing angle was so small only a portion of the screen was clear at any one time. I don't know how much better the Dell LED version is but my advice would be to avoid the model I saw. The E300 is a cheaper, older model similar to the P300 but it had a far better display than the similarly priced non-led dell xps.

Of the models I was able to test out the mac book pro and air had the best screens by a clear margin followed more distantly by a 14" hp (DV2890CA). The LG E300 had about an average screen but seemed to be above average in other regards. What this means for a P300 comparison I have no idea.

There's also the sony SZ780 that is similar in spec & price to the LG P300 including the LED backlight. London Drugs has them around here and I'm heading down there tomorrow.

Too bad the macbook (regular) doesn't have the screen of the air & the internals of the macbook pro at the current price as I think it would be the ideal machine.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I'm curious if heat is better on the Dell? I recall reading a review that said the LG was worse on heat?

    Hmm... The 13" Epson Endeavor NA801 from Japan comes equipped with a 8600m GT. It weighs in at a heavier 1.9kgs but I think that's mainly due to the internal optical drive. If only they would sell it to outsiders;

Come on Dell, the M1330 could really do with a refresh right about now...

woah, i'm genuinely impressed. it's like the benq X31 with a better processor...

edit: and it's only ~$1300 CAD retail... which means u might be able to get it for < $1000...
i'm slightly skeptic about the build quality though

Epson Endeavor huh? 8600m GT...I donno. If 8600m GS already makes P300 so hot on game I wonder if Endeavor will be set on fire.

    So am I. I want the 7200rpm drive into the p300. :(

Anyway, I would love to try both of them.
