Got my C2D P1 last week, and it's been mostly smooth sailing so far! The overall build is solid, and though I wouldn't exactly use it to stop bullets I expect it'll hold up reasonably well in real-world use. I haven't had the chance to really test the performance of the laptop yet, mainly because I'm trying to hold off installing games for as long as possible (it's a work laptop, you see). What I can tell you is that battery life is alright for the specs: a smidge under 3 hours under normal surfing/flash video use, with the Wifi on, normal Battery Miser settings, and the LCD set to 3/8 brightness.

Problems I've encountered thus far: the wireless connection was unreliable until I reinstalled IP Operator (I had uninstalled it as soon as I got the laptop under the assumption that XP would be able to better handle the wireless card--oops). Trying to change the advanced settings for the touchpad would throw an error; turns out it's an issue with the Synaptics driver, and appears on a bunch of laptops, not just LG's. The most recent set of drivers, uploaded earlier this week, solved the problem.

Other than that, I've been quite pleased. I hope to do a full review at some point if I get the chance, but in the meantime I'm open to requests for small tests to do on the laptop, or general questions.

    The specs:
    T5600 Core 2 Duo
    ATI Mobility Radeon x1400
    1GB RAM (DDR2-667)
    100GB HDD (5400rpm, NTFS)
    15.4" glossy screen (WXGA 1280x800)

    Congrats on your LG :)

I agree its a great machine - well built, reliable and speedy. I used one for about 6 months (my sisters) before i got my S1. Although I had no problems with wireless using the basic windows utility (uninstalled almost all of LGs software...)

Just to tempt ya, its pretty fast and will easily be able to handle newer games at medium settings (Ive played BF2142 and it works well on 800x600 High or 1024x768 medium-low) :p :D

Hey, i'm interested in this model. Have you had any other problems with it? And hows the keyboard (full size right?) and the VGA out?

No major problems, though XP shutdown has taken quite a bit longer ever since I ran Windows Update--but that's a common problem and not really an LG thing. Still trying to track that one down.

The keyboard feels quite solid to me, and there's very little flex to the keyboard tray, which is reassuring. It is indeed full-sized, complete with numeric keypad. Just tested the VGA out using the analog input on my Samsung 940B, and I'm actually pretty impressed by how clean the display looks. The x1400 only does a maximum desktop resolution of 1280x1024, though, so if you have an LCD monitor capable of higher resolutions you might be out of luck (though since the 940B's native resolution is 1280x1024, it's possible the x1400 driver simply didn't display the higher resolution settings).
