Just ordered one of the new models from LG. Tagged as the Lw60-j7v8ra, the specs say sonoma 2.13 ghz, 2g ddr2, 2mg L2, 100gb hdd, 256mb dedicated ATI-x600.
Sounds like it should handle whatever I throw at it but information is very hard to come by. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything.
    Thanx

Thanks for looking, but there was no info anywhere on any of the LG sites. Either way, I picked it up yesterday and all specs were as promised. The only problem was that the sticker on the box and the sticker below the keyboard stated that it only 128 mg video memory. After speaking with LG they claim it has been a mistake with their lableing and I have since found out that the problem was also carried onto the new LW70 modle which also has 256 mg video memory. Looking in the control panel I have confirmed that the unit does indeed have the 256 mg promised and it cirtainly performs as you would expect. The only dissapointing thing is the sound quality. Compared to my old Toshiba it is basically pathetic. That one small issue aside though, it was definetly worth the trouble I took to get hold of it

The label is correct. The card has 128 on board and then doubles it to 256 from the system memory.

You can read more here :

    http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=21314

Also any other LG notebooks with X600 cards can also double their memory by simply downloading the updated driver from the LG server. But this only applies for the ones with the ATI X600 video cards.

I have an LW70-QJMA with a 128 which is now a 256 and it runs Half life 2 fine.

Looking at the article it seems to talk about the X300. Does this then apply to the X600. I asked LG about this software patch before I purchased the machine and have been told several times by different people that the memory in my machine is dedicated and not shared from the system memory. Seems like every time I call them though I get different stories about different things. When I initially called LG to enquire about the new models I was suprised to be told by the sales man that there were no new models on the immediate horizon. Less than two weeks later I had the unit in my hands. Go figure!
