I purchased an LG R560 L.APA8DA9 Sept 27 from PCCyber in Ottawa Canada.

The R560 showed intermittent wireless connectivity right out of the box. Specifically, when the problem is present, vista cannot see any of the wifi networks. However, the wifi interface driver reports it is working fine.

I have three wifi APs in my home, with a minimum of 3 wifi connected PCs running at any time. (this to say it's not an AP problem).

I have since spent approx 3 hours updating/troubleshooting the notebook, including 90 minutes on the phone with technical support at LG Canada. (Very courteous and methodical .. cudos to the LG tech support person).

After having exhausted the options of uninstalling / reinstalling interface drivers and installing the most recent BIOS, the problem persists.

My suspicion is the radio on the wifi interface is faulty, but not completely failed.

I'll be returning the notebook today.

The wireless interface worked when I visited PCCyber on Saturday. Not unexpected, they politely said there is nothing they could do, given the wireless was working in the store.

Network interface was working fine Sunday evening. Computer lid was closed over night, not plugged in. When lid opened in the morning and system powered back up, the wireless interface came up in the failed state. WiFi Hopper scan shows “Surveyor” was seen by the interface at 7:07 AM, which was right at the time the computer was turned on.

... I was going to paste in some screen shots here but I see copy / paste for an image is not an option .... later.
