Finally, some updated versions of the LG BIOS CD. Also sourced some older ones which will come in handy if you need to downgrade your bios

EDIT: 21/06/2015 - Updated all links and added another two LG BIOS CDs :)

This ISO needs to be burned to a physical CD in order to work. There is a hidden image contained in the ISO which contains all of the bios update files that are loaded via the boot process. Note, the CD will show up as "empty" when viewed in Windows after you've burned it, but the files are still there so don't worry :)

If you'd like to see the CD contents, boot from it then exit to DOS. Once there you will see all the files and can copy them to another drive or usb device if you wish. But you don't need to do any of this if you'd like to simply update your bios with a version contained on this CD. Simply download, burn to a physical CD and boot from it. From there you will see the usual LG BIOS UPDATE CD menu and can proceed with flashing your bios.

If you're wondering why this ISO contains a hidden section, so am I . LG clearly used a different process when creating it from the others, but the end result is the same once you boot from it. I've updated my own LG notebook using this CD so can say for certain it works.

Just like the ISO above, I believe this ISO needs to be burned to a physical CD in order to work as well.

    Hi!

Sorry for my question, but how do i update the bios with that? I have a LG P300 with Win7 64 bit. So the file ELGNSF16.IMC should be the right, shouldn't it!? But what can i do with this file. What program do I need for .IMC ?

Where did you get these from? Never found a Bios-Update on the german LG Page.

    Greetings Scoo

I always wondered where these .iso originate from? Are these BIOS versions LG is not giving away to end users/customers and which the service centers are replacing in case of troubles when you send in the computer?

And, it seems there is no BIOS for the LG P310? does it mean the one installed (one year old already) hase never been changed?

do any lists exist indicating the latest BIOSes for each model, and maybe also the changes made?

Great! so I updated my p300 with this new bios and now windows doesnt start anymore! It dies during startup with a bluescreen and reboots!

How the ¤%#¤%¤"# are we supposed to revert back to the old bios when LGE only delivers them as .exe that needs to run from... WINDOWS?!?

*cough* any idea guys ? the update worked fine, bios patched and all, everything seems to work.. not sure whats going on. Cant start in safe mode either, so its either chipset driver things or that bios that have epic errors! wonder you can revert it with the bios cd image?

Would someone please help me get a .bin file of the old F13 bios? Im trying badly to downgrade my P300 because that new bios is making lots of trouble! but I constantly get that a newer version is present and then it stops, I want to force install the old one but LGE seem not to get it only releasing a .exe file which gives you NO options, im sick of it ! anyone got ideas or a way to crack that exe file open? thanks guys.

@Reverence it does work, but I advice against it ! It has really bad fan control making the laptop go really hot compared to earlier, the fan kicks in way to late basically and wont let you do much about it !? if anyone has ideas of how to force fan control, let me know !

    thanks

Thomas, I know with my laptop (R200) you can set three different fan modes. If you change it to full, then you can manually configure the fan speeds/temps using SpeedFan. I've been using this program for years on my desktop and it works wonderful.

These ISO images are self bootable. So burn one on a blank CD, then boot from it. You will see a menu and be asked to enter your LG model number, serial number etc. You can see some screenshots of what the menus look like etc., in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=302646

These discs come from LG Service Centers, and are not publicly available for download apart from here ;)

Correct. These are LG Service Center specific CDs. They were never meant for the general public's use. But sadly for most of us, they are the only options for being able to update the bios.

You'll find a bios for the P310 here, http://forums.mydigitallife.info/th...s-(*.WPH-or-*.ROM-files).?p=189918#post189918. The file contains both the original unmodded, and modded SLIC 2.1 versions of the bios.

Thomas, I've uploaded an original copy of the P300 F13 bios for you:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/369186036/LG_BIOS_P300_F13.rar

If anyone is having trouble with getting the bios file from the LG self executable files, post here and I should hopefully be able to extract it.

Wille, the ISO isn't empty, rather you won't be able to see the ISO contents in Windows Explorer or any extraction program like IsoBuster. The ISO needs to be burnt to a physical CD in order to work as it's the boot process that loads the second hidden image contained in the ISO.

This ISO came from LG directly. I've left it as is and haven't modified it in anyway.

If you want to see the ISO contents or extract them, you can do this by booting from the CD, then exiting to DOS. Then you will be able to see and copy the contents of the CD. Bare in mind that unless you know how to use the extracted files, it's going to be much easier to burn it, boot from it, and flash your bios that way.

From a more technical standpoint, the ISO contains two parts to it. The second and most important is where all the data and bios files are contained. It's not only hidden but also embedded into the first part, and thus only loads via the boot process. I spent weeks trying to decipher and understand how this CD was originally created as I'd never seen a CD like it. As you can see it's not like a normal ISO in being able to open it, extract the file contents etc. ISO images normally have a few different file systems in place. There's Joliet, Rock Ridge, El Torito, ISO 9660 to name a few. If you modify these as LG have done, you create a non standard CD. So what we ended up with is a CD that is "invisible" to being seen by Windows, but when booted from directly shows it's contents in DOS.

I've had this ISO for many months and was contemplating not ever releasing it due to how it might confuse some people. But in the end figured it would still be better to share it.

Does the new BIOS CD that was added yesterday work with the P310? And does it fix the battery issue in windows 7?

If not, I will probably have to use the modded version mentioned earlier.. Anything I should know about using a modded BIOS? Can anyone report how it works?

    thanks :)

Soultaker, the P310 bios on the "new" CD I added yesterday is from January 2009 so it won't have any effect in fixing the Windows 7 battery issue.

The modded version of the bios is F0E. The one on my CD is F0D. So the modded one is one version newer, but I don't think it will contain any fixes for the Windows 7 battery issue. From the file dates F0E is nearly 1.5yrs old.

You're right Wille, LG have removed R405.A F20 :(. I have a copy though if anyone needs, but for Soultaker it's the wrong bios anyway. Microsoft posted 3 updated bioses from LG to supposedly to fix the battery issue. Only two were ever available for download (the P300 F20 was listed, but there was never a link for it), but now that the R405.A F20 has been removed, only one remains. Hip hip hooray for LG

    Can someone help me ?
    I have an LG P1 Express Laptop. ( LG P1-BP01A9 ).
When I push the Power button the top Power light comes on and same with the front Power light and HDD light, but that's all that happens..
I also see the DVD-Burner light flasing and can also hear it.

    The screen stays blank..
It's not the LCD because it's the same connected to an external LCD.

The person I got it from told me he flashed the bios and this is what happened.

I'm wondering if there's a way to FORCE a flash like you can with HP DV6000 series Laptops by holding the "Fn" key and the "B" while booting...

ANY help or Suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

    Thanks everyone :)

Hi to all LG Owners and pros. Reporting successful update of my old buddy LG S1 J7200M with ver. BIOS090127. Took me a caution while to get it done right. Flushed without any problem. Did not see any significant difference though. As upgrade observed small improvement on starting speed. As downside observed sporadic activities of DVD drive like it is looking for a non existed disk and untimely opening the drawer by itself.
Crashed hopes - the bottom remained still significantly hot, especially in way of DDR2 slots and required external cooling :( ; no change of BIOS menu, or at least in what I was looking for…

Query 1 - I have small problem with the video adapter ATI X1400 (sold socket), after some working time on screen appeared various horizontal lines, usually in negative color, i.e. blacks on white and whites on black background... Expected this to be tackled, by new BIOS without luck. Any suggestions apart from complete replacement of motherboard?

Query 2 - Mean time replaced my retrofit HDD 320GB with brand new SSD OCZ Vertex 2. This one came to be with SATA2 interface capable of 260 MB/s transfer rate R/W. However mother board had the original HDD connected via IDE ATA port on channel 0, and providing only 130MB/s transfer rate both R/W. Although I almost know the answer, but still vague hopes are if there is a possibility to re-connect it on ATA Channel 2 somehow?

Query 3 - Is there any way to update Video Adapter BIOS and is it necessary to tackle the sparking problem? Currently running on the original version dated 15/03/2006? Video driver date 10/02/2010.

    Hardware - LG Xnote S1-J7200M, Mother board Rocky, chipset Intel i945PM (north bridge), Core ™ 2 Duo T7200 @ 2.0 GHz, 2x1GB DDR2 RAM 64bit (Actual Speed 333MHz  ), 120GB SSD OCZ Vertex 2, ATI Radeon X-1400, LCD WSXGA 15.2" res. 1680x1050x42949627296 colors @60Hz

Continue from my last post. I've managed to deal with two out of three problems - Laptop bottom overheating and screen sparks by simply getting it to LG service. It appears that the chip set failed and they had to replace the whole motherboard for good 160$. Now it does not require cooling table anymore and is working as good as new.

Any clue about new BIOS update?

    Hi for everybody!
    TIME FOR LAPTOP UPGRADE!
I am also owner of LG R200(D.CP65R1) notebook same as KrazyKong, Big thanks for the link with LG BIOS CD's. Would like

    to ask you: did you try to replace CPU T7250(2GHz, 2MB, 10x, FSB 800, 35W, Socket P) with T9500 (2.6GHz, 6MB,

    13x, FSB 800, 35W, Socket P)?
    I have tried CPU T9300 (2.5GHz, 6MB, 12.5x, FSB 800, 35W, Socket P) but I had BIOS F0A and system was with

dark screen (power on, but fans not running) - unsuccessful. Maybe LG added microcode to support these CPU's in

    version F11?
Would be nice to know BIOS release info..
I found korean market release of LG R200(EP93K) with T9300 CPU. Would be good to have it's BIOS in hands. I believe that CPU could work with our laptops for sure. ( http://www.lge.co.kr/cokr/product/main/catalog/LgeFrontProductDetailCmd.laf?prdid=eprd62800#//)
Also I bought in my country used Blu-Ray recording drive MATA BD-MLT UJ-220S ( Dell - Support, which is the best to fit in an old IDE (non-SATA) connector used in LG R200 laptop.
The sound card Creative PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook is nice boost in the laptop's sound system. ( Creative PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook First Take - Notebooks - CNET Asia)
Anybody have ideas about new BIOS?

I don't have anything definite on being able to source a new LG BIOS UPDATE CD, but I am working on it.

Vladyslav, I still use my R200. No I havn't changed my CPU at all, but have thought about it. Did you update your bios to F11 before you tried using the T9300 CPU?

    Hello from Greece!

I want to upgrade my laptop memory from 2 to 4GB however i always get a blue screen if i try to boot with 4 GB of ram although the BIOS POST screen shows the correct amount of memory (4GB).
    I have an E500-L.AP14HS (LGE50) laptop with A1637IL1 V1.66 BIOS.
Is there an updated BIOS for my model that fixes the current limitation of 2GB of ram?
    Thanks in advance.
edit: I have successfully updated to bios v. 1.68 using LG BIOS CD 090127 however i still can't use 4 GB of ram. I would appreciate any help.

    Hi.
I have a problem with a laptop LG S1-R788R1. When working windose 7. Sometimes it turns off the monitor. Problems when exiting sleep. Going off the screen. Helps only restart the laptop.
The service center I could not help.
If anyone encountered this problem, help me. Or a link to the forum thread.
I want to reset the bios. service center does not help. Citing the fact that I have the latest BIOS for my model.
    characteristics of the notebook
    Type BIOS Phoenix
    Version BIOS RKYWSF1C
    The system BIOS Date 08/08/06

    The board
    LG S1-R788R1

North Bridge: Mobile Intel Calistoga-PM i945PM
    South Bridge: Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M
    Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 2000 MHz (12 x 167)

Video Adapter ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 (LG)
    Version BIOS 009.012.001.011.019786
Question, can I flash the BIOS090129 (RKYWSF33)? instead of RKYWSF1C?
Is this possible and how do you know if it fits with my beech?
Which version of BIOS for my last beech, which can be flash?
Where can I download the BIOS version RKYWSF1C?
Please help. I'll be glad for any help!

Working on my friend's LG P1 Pro P1-KPU2E1 laptop. It seems to have the same overheating problem. 40-50°C cpu while idle in Windows 7. I ran Prime95 Torture Test and the ram temperature hit 70°C (burning hot) and the cpu stays 90-95°C. Surprisingly the system seems stable, hasn't crashed or froze from being on for several hours. I'm curious if this is a sign of hardware failure/damage or if it just needs a BIOS update? I notice the POST summary at bootup says "No TPM or TPM Disabled/Damaged" but the laptop sticker shows it is supposed to have a TPM encryption chip among other things.

    Laptop LG P1 Pro P1-KPU2E1
BIOS RKYWSF28 Date 02/13/07, EC BIOS Revision 0D.34

Laptop Display Panel is LG PHILIPS LP154W01-TB5 15.4" LCD
    AuthenTec Inc AES2501A Fingerprint Sensor

    EDIT June 23rd:
Updated to BIOS RKYWSF33 but the EC number remained at 0D.34. Any ideas how to update this part too? What exactly is the EC segment for?

    EDIT2 June 23rd:
Had to use the 080424 disc to get the EC BIOS Revision updated to 0D.38 strange that both 080424 and 090127 discs had the latest RKYWSF33 BIOS but the older disc (YYMMDD BIOS CD date code) had the newer EC version. What is the EC for? Inside the BIOS it's called KBC Version.

I'll try and upload the LG BIOS CDs this weekend. It's been awhile since I've used any of the free hosting places. Any suggestions for one that will last the distance, won't annoy you with endless ads and clicking etc?
