    LG claims in their sales brochure that all their notebooks come with LED backlight. Bought one R410 LG noebook at the Sitex recently from Harvey Norman but couldn't assertify in the spec sheet that it was built with LED backlight.

    After several calls to LG service centre, LG Sales dept & Harvey Norman that sold the notebook, they all are not able to affirm that the R410 comes with LED backlight, even after checking with Korea.

    This is contrary to what was claimed in their sales brochure.

    They are also not willing to give a full refund.

    This looks like an issue to be taken up with CASE for misrepresentation and misleading advertisement with the intention to cheat the consumers.

    In the meantime, consumers beware!

    which brochure?

    maybe the reason they didn't give you a refund was that they didn't know about the ad? is it possible that you mis-paraphrased the ad?

    "all their notebooks" might have been "all their current notebooks" or something like that. maybe the r410 is an older model.

    just because its being sold somewhere doesn't mean that it's LGs latest.

    /agree w/ masterchef

    Unless you can quickly find some major issue that could get the notebook refunded, you'd be best off if you accept the restocking fee they'll most likely charge "They are also not willing to give a full refund"

    I ditto with masterchef here.

    PS, just to add on;

    @markteh: I'm sure you do realize Notebookreview is an International Forum. Harvey Norman, CASE, SITEX all these are in Singapore - It's no use complaining here when many non-Singaporean readers here don't have any clue what are those. Even the brochure you're mentioning is printed in Singapore - They may not have access to it.

    You've posted this in Hardwarezone, stick to that thread. Those Singaporean locals can answer that much easier for you.

    Well, to be fair, 5 seconds of Google searching came up with this LG R410 press release which states LED-backlighting for the R410:

    h t t p : / / w w w . hardwarezone.com/news/view.php?cid=9&id=11369

    That said, I agree that spamming the forums isn't the best way to gain supporters. Have you confirmed that your R410 DOESN'T have LED-backlighting? Or is it just that LG won't confirm that it does?

    To also be fair; LG's models definitely depend on region to region. So quoting from one source isn't necessarily applicable to where you buy you're laptop.
