I purchased an Lg P1 Express duo core last year, it has a 256 mb Ati X1600 Video card 1GB mem card, 2.0 Duo Core and 80 GB HD. I bought the vista Ultimate upgrade and when i installed it, all the software was non compatiable with Vista, the Video Card didnt work either it said it had compatiblity issues. Plus LG live update doesnt work either. I was wondering does any one have an P1 express that got around theses isuess and got all the drivers working. I tried to manualy install the drivers and that lead to the same place which is compatability problems. I just got frustared and reinstalled back to Windows XP. I was wondering also does anyone know if LG is planning to release an update to help solve these issues.
    ok thanks,

LG does not care about their customers. They do not release BIOS for their Core Duo laptops, the default BIOS has disabled XD-bit feature (who needs it anyway, stupid lamers, they probably think). Killed your BIOS? Well you cannot download it from official site, ha ha ha. Another thing - their ATI GPUs cannot use official Catalyst drivers, only LG-produced ones. Of course, LG DOES NOT BOTHER RELEASING THEM. Screw you, LG! This is the last time I bought anything from you.
My P1 has 512 RAM. It cannot be removed. ONLY ONE EXPANSION SLOT. Is it a joke?
    P.S. Everybody, spread the word.

LG laptop support is lousy indeed. Still, I'm so happy with my S1 I'm willing to take the time to work around some issues.

Of course they can, you just need to download the whole installer from here http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/ATI/ATI-Catalyst-Mobility-74.shtml or here http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atidriv%20mobility.htm
    not from the ATI website.

Ghiani - check out the Vista upgrade S1 thread in this forum, different model but I still think it can be usefull to you. I can assure you that ATI x1600 works fine with Vista. Which software do you exactly have issues with? Give us full system specs and hardware that is causing you problems, maybe we can help.

My P1 Express Dual is running Vista. I have not encountered any major issues. Just make sure that you download the Vista drivers before upgrading to Vista. I did however, do a clean install. Check out your LG website for drivers. I got all my drivers there and they work really well.

Seems no P1 user is around to answer that question. I contacted my local LG reseller and was told P1 has two Ram slots and both can be replaced. Not sure what Cheeky's issue is, but it doesn't make much sense. Anyhow, to be on a save side, just call LG wherever you're buying it from and double check :)

Hey, i have the p1 and upgraded the ram yesterday with no probs. There are 2 slots however one is hard to get to ( under the keyboard - you have to pull the whole thin apart to get to it). the second one is easy though, you just have to undo the 2 screws on the bottom where it says memory and viola, theres 1 ram slot there and it'll take about 2 second to change. Mine runs vista no probs too.

I have a question though, i'm not entirely satisfied with the 512 hyper ram video card, is it possible to change the video card with another ati one? the x2600xt looks damn sweet.
    Thanks

    Hiya,

You dont quite have to pull the laptop apart to get at the memory under the keyboard. There are two screws on the underside with a keyboard symbol next to them. Remove those screws. Turn the laptop over and just above the top row of keys you will see little plastic protrusions which are spring loaded. Push them toward the rear of the laptop with a jewlers flat blade screwdriver and the keyboard will pop up. There are four of them. Make sure you dont try to pull the keyboard up. The top should pop up of its own accord as it is spring loaded. The top of the keyboard pops out and the bottom sits in a groove. When it does you will see a flat ribbon cable attaching it the motherboard. Be very careful with this cable as it is delicate. Now lift the keyboard up (not the laptop) so its sitting vertical on the laptop about halfway up the keyboard space. To the bottom left you will see the other memory stick.

    Regards

    Jarvil

    Hello,

When we first got this laptop we reinstalled Windows-XP and discovered to our delight that if you dont install the battery miser software it runs a good %20 faster. So we have never installed this software and recommend that people do not as it crucifies the performance. If you really *need* long battery performance then maybe but otherwise don't use it.

Now we are runningr Vista with no problems. We installed the latest ATI X1400 drivers using DH Modtool technique. We upgraded the memory to 2GB since is $26AUD for Kingston 1GB memory PC2-5300 because Vista is memory hungry. We installed the on screen display, realtek sound drivers and thats about it as I recall. Vista detected and installed pretty well everything else.

    Regards

    Jarvil

    Hello there

1st of all, sorry for waiting a year long thread :)

and thank for all the amount of information I gathered here in less than an hour

Even so, I still have one doubt that I can't shake, if you guys would be so kind as to help me out :)

I'm upgrading my P1 Express Dual memory - so, can I keep one of my 512Mb and buy a 2Mb, instead of 2x1GB? Will it work?

(sorry if it's a silly question, but I really am puzzled with this :/)

    thanks in advance :)

Yes. I have 4GB (2x2GB) RAM installed and all OK. But, you must know that the system only work with 3.25GB.

    2All
Can anyone help me to install Win Vista on my LG p1 (JACKE) Pro Express Dual?
In the course of year I try to connect with LG "tech support", but this impossible. LG - very, VERY bad company. But, I still have item from it, and have to unstall Vista or Win7.
Problem with video. XP work fine. But if I trying to install Vista or Win7, I have only 640x480 16colors picture. And can't change this. I try many drivers for Ati x1400 - no one change situation.
Device manager show this problem: Video chipset havn't resources for working (look at images)

Ati can't use resources because it used by Intel Mobile 945 port (look to screen)

and one more (before try to install ati drivers, with vgasave!)

But! In windows XP and 2003 all work fine with same parameters! Look at screen:

Please! If someone have things about solving this problem - help me!

    P.S. Sorry for my English.

    1) win7: you can update win7 through the update button in control panel
    2) vista: install vista 8.491.0.0 drivers from singapore lg website http://sg.lgservice.com/
    3) remember to install each newest driver from this website including the intel chipset driver. I think that was the prob in your com.

I installed win 7 without the drivers. it was installed automatically. I am using 3GB ram BTW.

For others that think LG is lousy: LG in singapore is very good. fast replies (a few hours), fast servicing(1day), no wait time in queues(not like acer need to wait 500 ppl before servicing), friendly personnels(even help me find jobs). Please only degrade their reputation by stating your country and not mislead other ppl in other country.
