Hello all, im trying to help my friend get a new laptop and have found this LG one that has the perfect specs and price. The main specs are as follows:

    Model Number: R590-K.ARJ6REI
CPU: Core i5-450m processore (2.4 ghz)
LCD: Fine Bright HD TFT LCD
Video: Nvidia geforce 310m (512mb vram)
    Memory: 4GB
    HDD: 320GB
Wired Lan: Gigabit integrated fast ethernet
    Wireless Lan: 802.11 b/g/n NIC

for some reason i cant find any information at all about this model. It might be region specific? I live in Dubai,UAE if that helps...My main concern is if LG laptops are as reliable as say HP or Toshiba.

    Thanks in advance..

It is part of the X-Note series. Specs are good, and LG is good brand (niche) like Samsung for many.

    cheers ...

I must say from personal experience that I have had a very good laptop.

Three years ago, I bought an LG R405. It was slightly more expensive than all the other HPs, Toshibas, Dells, Sonys, Acers, Asus my classmates had, but I bought it for it's uniqueness. Now, a lot of my friends HPs, Dells, Sonys, Asus, Acers have died in one way or another.

My laptop still functions great. The Power plug on my laptop snapped, but it was relatively easy to replace. My battery is also dead because of a Windows 7 bug, but besides that it still runs fine and does everything other than gaming.

The only thing that peeves me about asian branded notebook is the terrible documentation for drivers/software that are bundled. Their websites aren't very intuitive, but it's not a deal breaker.

LM50a, ran for four years, then fried the USB sub-system daughter card. Sent it back to LG, they replaced daughter card (I paid) but for $200 the machine still is running now going on six years! Dropped a larger HD into it, good to go...Good ole WinXP and LG.

    Me too

Although i'm using my LG that was made in Korea to compare with the HP and Toshiba that are around 40% cheaper and made in China.

Not sure if LGs are still made in Korea though.

This forum is a little quiet, but I think for the most part, users are quite satisfied with their LG notebooks. I don't think we've had any major product line issues that other brands have had.

I will add my 2 cents:

I have been using an LG S1Pro ExpressDual for over 3.5 years without a hiccup. This laptop get used at least 30 our per week for work.

The only negative thing I have to say about LG is that they obsolete accessories really fast. Shorthly after buying my laptop, I decided that I wanted to buy an extra capacity battery from LG only to be informed that it was no longuer available (the laptop was still offered for sale) and I hasd to settle on a 2nd standard capacity battery.

    E500 about 4 years.
    It is made in China.

other than the lid cracked due to poorly designed LCD support frame. The frame could not stand the repeat stress. Replacement part is way overpriced.

The power plug on board is also going soon.

LCD light output is getting dimmer even at high.

Otherwise it is a good machine
