Hi guys! I'm desperate right now, and I just registered here to seek help omg :(

I wanted to fix the common issue with the atheros wireless card by upgrading bios. I did it wrong and now PC doesn't boot.

I am counting on you guys, please save me! I don't have no original bios nor anything.

Hey tug, welcome to NBR, first things first, does the machine power on? Or is it just hanging or what? We need this to determine a few things.

Also what went wrong with the flash?

Hi there! Thanks for the reply!

    Ok, I'll explain everything:

1- I had some problems with my LG notebook. The internet signal was always falling from the taskbar tray, as many stated previously in the other thread due to the atheros wireless card issues.

2-I found out I could solve this issue myself by upgrading the LG bios and so I went to the following site: http://www.notebook-driver.com/lg/xpvistalg-e500-wlan-connectivity-improvement-by-bios-flash/

    3-Since I got a model E500-S*** : Vista -> E500_PM8400_Vista.zip, XP-> E500_PM8400_XP.zip. I should have choosen this option and flash the bios with it.

4-I was so stupid when I've choosen the wrong one: * Ver 10G
    - E500-U*** : Vista -> E500_PM8600_Vista.zip, XP ->E500_PM8600_XP.zip

5-I followed the instruction written in a doc. file from that website, but since >I was getting and error, I've unchecked "Do Not check ROM ID", and it let me flash.

6-I've restarded the laptop and to my surprise it would only make a few start up noises (basically DVD-rom + a few, not many others) and the power and other leds on. But that's it, not picture in the screen, nothing.

    7-It's dead and I'm f*cked.

    ....

Any help to make would be welcome. I head portable diskette drives may help, but I need certain files + make key combinations... however I don't know if those methods will work on this LGE500?,...

    rma?What's that?
Yes, I still have warranty, but I though that wouldn't cover flash attempts?

Well is it an official bios from LG? If it is, and you can track it down on one of there own sources/webs then we should be able to use warrenty.

If not it may be a case of ripping the CMOS battery out for a few minutes and clearing CMOS, or we may have to look for a CMOS jumper to reset it.

Try and find the bios on an LG website though, effectively it could be there fault for releasing a bios that has not worked with your system.

Do the other models of LG machines have different GPU?

Yes, it's an official release and can be found here by acessing "Devices Drivers" button.

Hmm, I took of the battery and waited 5 mins. Nothing changes..
I don't understand what you mean. There are 3 different types of Bios for 3 different LG E500 models. I used the wrong one I believe.

I believe warrenty would still be valid then, tip is to phone them up, and act like an idiot :p

30 mins with battery out may do it but if not its dead, but ring them would work, and just act like you didnt really know what went wrong etc, you hadn't done that before and so on.

    6 months later...

If you still want to recover, you probably can!!

LG Notebooks Enter in Crisis Recovery Mode:

1- Turn off your notebook, I didn't need to unplug the battery or cut the power.
2- Now press and hold the power button until it turns on and shuts down.

After step 2 when you turn it on again, the system wil enter in CRM without need to press any key combination.

I managed to do a no floppy / pendrive recover like that.

Than you follow instructions to create a Crisis Recovey Disk for your BIOS.

My notebook is a LG R500-C.CP01P1.

After the bad flash I upgraded from COLSSF11 to COLSSF15.

But unfortunatelly, until now, I didn't manage to recover my LCD Panel from darkness.

It only appears after i load Windows, the HDMI and VGA ports works fine.

My old BIOS was COLSSF11 and i can't find it anywhere on the internet.

I tried a LG Service Center but they wanna rip me off replacing the entire mobo.

If anyone out there knows where to find this colssf11.imc, please enlighten my path :)
