I have had a LG LS50a since April of 2005 I came home the other day after work to a computer that will not boot. I originally thought it might be the harddrive but have pulled that out of the computer and put it in a drive enclosure unit and hooked it up to my desktop and have been able to access the data on it. This tells me it is not the harddrive and is most likely the motherboard.

Was just wondering if anyone had any idea of what a new motherboard would cost me for this computer. Had asked a couple of computer shops in town here and one place told me would be around 700-1400 before labor and the other shop told me i might as well buy a new computer if it was indeed the mother board.

Basically I am looking to know what the price would be to get a new motherboard for the computer.

The cost of a new motherboard will probably be about the amount shops have told you. Often it is 50 to 75% of the cost of the notebook. Also, are you absolutely sure it is the motherboard. Does the notebook show the BIOS details, or is it when you press the on button, it simply doesn't do anything?

I have been assuming it is the motherboard when i press the power button the power comes but it doesn't load the BIOS info it doesn't even show LG logo. When the power button is pressed it just lites up the power icon and that is it, the fan or nothing else loads.
