I am using LG LM40a notebook since January. I was satisfied with the purchase, but unfortunately one day notebook did not respond to "power" button (despite of power cord connected and battery fully charged). After few attempts, removing and connecting battery it finally started. However all USB ports did not work (mouse, pendrive etc.). Now it is in repair. It all looks like a motherboard failure. Hope it will be repaired, because despite all problems it is a fine notebook.

    Pros:
    - fairly light and small
    - good build quality and nice design (of course except the problems above)
    - bright screen (even too bright for me in max setting, nice contrast and proper size - I do not like 15'' with XGA resolution - pixels are to big for me, but in 14'' they are OK)
    - very low noise (in battery mode fan in rarely on, in AC mode fan is on for longer times, but still not loud)
    - responsive touchpad and comfortable keyboard
    - all needed ports and even SD/MemoryStick reader
    - good battery life ~3 hours of home/office work with external USB Wi-Fi card (I cannot use internal Wi-Fi, due to the low signal inside the building)

    Cons:
    - failure (of course)
    - two stuck pixels (blue, in lower right coner)
    - comparing to my old 700MHz Celeron desktop, the Centrono 1.5 is not a speed demon (of course it is much faster, but I hoped for more, maybe it is so because to lower the power consuption Centrino chipset can speed down the processor to 600MHz)
    - despite 2,2 kg it is still quite heavy, but maybe only for me, next time I will try to find 1,5 laptop like new Asus W5.

In conclusion: LM40a is a good, nice looking and small notebook in very good price for what if offers, but it is a shame that it broken just after few months of normal using and showed two stuck pixel in overall very good LCD monitor. Maybe it is a problem of LG quality control or maybe I just have a bad luck. Will see what happen after it come back from repair.
