    Hi!
I've counted my choices down to these two. LG s1 and e500.
It have come to my understanding that the e500 has better spacs than the s1, but since the lack of review of e500 ill have to ask you guys.

How is the quality? What is the screen like? Noise and heat? How does the nv gf go 8400 score in different benchmark? and other stuff like that
If u know about any reviews i'd be happy to take a look at them

Which of these two notebooks u think I should buy?

Do u think that i should wait for the upgrade for the S1? When do u think it will come?

ps. which is better: the ati x1600 or the gf 8400m G?

E500, personally i find the quality isn't up to par with the S1.. i think someone in the forum has the E500.. u might have to see the R500,E500 availability thread in the LG forum.

If you can wait for the new S1, then wait for it, we have no idea when issit coming up, my guesses is that when the ATI HD 2600 chips starts to surface in the market. Or even until the new 45nm cpu appears...

And last, the ATI X1600 is better thou the 8400M G is DX10 proof(but doesn't play DX10 so well since it is a lowend card anyway)

The LG E500 is quite good but can't be compared to S1. Truthfully you are talking about the top of the segment of the previous models with the lowest of the segment of the new models.

Aside from that, the material is in general good. The only minus is a bit of flex on the cover. It does not seem to be so resistant as in the P1 for instance. The screen is very good and I can hear hardly any noise. As for the heat it's not noticeable, but I can check out for you with more accuracy. My model does not have a dedicated GPU though, so that should make a difference.

Personally I do think the E500 is very much oriented for the professional user, like my case, and at the same time providing a low budget laptop for home entertainment and games (the last case if with dedicated GPU). I'm more than happy with this laptop, except for the keyboard (suitable for people who use the mouse and use numbers mostly, but ok if you can adapt to a campred right shift while writing). The laptop is quite "pretty". Way more than the F1 which it is replacing. I would recommend it if you're ok with the keyboard (which is not the same as the keyboard in P1, S1 and R500) and don't plan to go around and put heavy stuff on top of it. lol

Anyway, for me I was "this close" to getting another laptop (and return this one) because of the keyboard. I'm not using it yet in full, but I will be doing a lot of writing on it. And maybe I should have got another model/brand, but as for the rest this is a really good laptop for the budget. I would likely think of buying it again if the keyboard was right.

i have the e500, i really like it, i have the one with the geforce 8400M G, its a nice machine, plays most games ive thrown at it, i didnt get it as a games machine so thats not my main focus. I use the number pad on my desktop alot,so having one on my laptop helps me alot. the Shift key is really small, but u get used to it. i still push the up arrow alot when i want shift, but i still love the laptop. its all up to what u want and what u need hey. Geforce is the way to go in my opinion... the 8400 aint the best by far but is a decent lil monster.

I had S1 Pro Express Dual for more than 2 years now and I can't be more happy with my choice. You can refer to the review if you want more info about S1 but personally I do recommend this laptop and will defiantly buy it again. The down side is the led surface, easy to get scratched other than that great performance, no heat issue, quiet, and it still turn heads to the design.

I don’t do a lot gaming but at least it handled every game I throw at. I use it as a mini cinema and like to watch movies on it than my 29" TV, I do lot of net surfing as well downloading so I keep it up and running for weeks with no problem (of course restarting it when needed).

good luck with your choice ….
